Re: weekly poker game?
We played last night buy-in style. 10 bucks buy in, get 20 chips. Basically each chip is 50 cents. I had to rebuy again, and I came away with 24 bucks. So basically, I made a 4 dollar profit. At the end it was me and this other guy playing heads up. The time limit came, and we both were up like 40 bucks, but we decided to play one more hand.
Basically, we put a lot of chips in, and he called me all in, and I didnt wanna lose it ALL (I had A-7 with like a pair of 7's on the table) so I just folded. I went from being able to get back 60, 65 bucks, to only getting back 24.
I like tournament style better, because like.....there's actually a way to know "how big a bet is". It's more structured. With tournament style, I feel like I play more calculated and know what I'm doing more. With buy-in, it's easier to lose money, but easier to win more too.
I dont know, I'm just mad at myself for not just folding on the last hand that I played. Couldve kept 40 bucks.Comment

I do to.Originally posted by TheMatrix31I like tournament style better, because like.....there's actually a way to know "how big a bet is". It's more structured. I also like knowing how much I am going to lose going into it. Like, if my friends and I play a $50 buy in tournament, I like that. But if we just play NL table, I could keep losing, more and more. But I usually come out on top.Comment

Yeah, tournament style limits the BS because once youre out, youre out. People tend to play smarter.Comment

Re: weekly poker game?
we raise blinds usually about 45 minutes to an hour... it's not really a set thing... we do an hour limit on rebuys and almost always the person who rebuys is real quick to get out again.... just got back from playin tonight took home 15 (net 10) for second place... pretty good cause i was down to four chips at one point with 11 guys still left.Go Heels!

I usually play once, sometimes twice a month with about 8 of my friends...always Hold Em, usually $5, sometimes $10 buy-in.
I usually end up winning too...there are advantages to not being a worthless teenage drinker.

At least once every week for me and my friends and you just put in however much you want. There is no place like Nebraska
Dear old Nebraska U.
Where the girls are the fairest,
The boys are the squarest,
Of any old school that I knew.
There is no place like Nebraska,
Where they're all true blue.
We'll all stick together,
In all kinds of weather,
For Dear old Nebraska U!

Re: weekly poker game?
I just had another awful suckout on Poker Stars. All-in Q's versus A/8 and the kid catches two 8's to knock me out.

you know ehh, the software isn't out to get you, its more likely just bad bad luck. While you're losing, someone else is winning.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Oh I know, I'm just saying that it seems like looser players have a better chance of winning on Poker Stars. I play very tight/agressive and I almost always have the better hand preflop and get screwed.
I understand the whole thing about luck, etc but I've gotten screwed on SIX straight tourneys. It's a lil outta hand.
Plus a few of the sites have forums I was checking out, and it seems that Full Tilt and Poker Stars are notorious for having alot more suckouts than Party Poker. We shall see."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

No online site is "rigged." Although I've seen on more than one occasion on Absolute Poker, one of the cards that I folded preflop show up in the community cards.Originally posted by ehhOh I know, I'm just saying that it seems like looser players have a better chance of winning on Poker Stars. If you play $5 SNG's, look out for the rake on Party, it's double that of Stars.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment
