    College Major Question

I know there's alot of college students and college grads who surf OS, so I figured you guys could help me out...

I'm in my third semester of college and still not definitive on why I'm there. The main reason I went was to become a sports journalist. After a little research and such, I felt it wasn't such a realistic goal considering the small school I'm going to and the competition in the field...so I switched to undeclared after my first semester.

I've been that way ever since. Right now I'm in a Career Ed class which is supposed to help us find a career path and such, I've looked into Business and Education thinking that those would interest me, but neither seem to be something I'm interested in doing the rest of my life. I began looking into journalism again, and it definitely still interests me.

So, I'm close to declaring as Journalism again, and then adding minors in English(emphasis on writing) and Coaching(I read somewhere that it would help when applying for positions). The only thing holding me back is that it seems a major in this area isn't as wide open as something like a business major. A business major opens the door to alot of different jobs, whereas journalism seems to have a much smaller selection of jobs.

It's not like I'm doing this with hopes of being the next Michael Smith or Woody Paige or whoever else is on ESPN, lol. I know that would be extremely unrealistic. I mean don't get me wrong, I'd love to get to a large newspaper or publication, but realistically I'd be happy writing for a smaller newspaper as long as the pay is sufficient(I saw the average salary in the field from grads from our school is just over $30k...which is about the average from our school). I love writing, and I love dissecting sports...and it just seems to go together well, lol.

    Now for the questions...

First off, is it realistic to have two minors with a major? Too much of a workload? I'll be seeing my advisor in a couple weeks, so I guess I'll know for sure then...but I'd like to have some idea what I'm doing heading into that meeting, not have any curveballs thrown.

Secondly, if it turns out that I graduate with the journalism major and can't find a job in the field...is it possible to find other decent jobs even if it's not in the journalism field?

And finally, I am right for thinking that attending a bigger school like Wisconsin would look alot better on the resume and open up more jobs than attending a small school like UW-Whitewater, right? Because if I do go with the journalism major, I'm leaning towards attempting to transfer to Wisconsin because it would help me more in the future for finding a job.

Any advice, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated

the size of the college does not matter.....

the ranking of the particular school (as in major, like School of Business) is what is important.......
