Swollen Lymph node
The lymph node behind my right ear is swollen. Should I go see a doctor now, or just wait a few days to see how things turn out? Does a swollen lymph node automatically mean cancer?Tags: None -

I used to get that a lot as a kid, most of the time I just had strep throat, or some kind of infection.Blind to this impending fate

Re: Swollen Lymph node
I remember I had the same thing a few years back...it just went away after a month or so. I really didn't worry about it too much, but if you feel uncomfortable...then go see a doctor...never can be too safe with these things.Comment

Re: Swollen Lymph node
I've had 2 enlarge in my neck (and that was it, they weren't sensitive or anything)...had them checked out (these were two separate times), and they eventually decided to remove them. No cancer or anything, they don't really know why they did that, but I'm fine and that's what matters. I'd go get checked out to make yourself feel better, but there's a good chance it's nothing. Now i just have a very feint scar on my neck that if people ask I'll pretend to cry and say "I was in a very bad place a few years ago, thank god I didn't have the courage to go as deep as I needed"...the look of shock on their face is pricelessNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Swollen Lymph node
If it's tender and you can move it around, that tends to be better.....meaning you're probably fighting off an infection or something. Firm, nontender lymph nodes are more characteristic of cancer, but it doesn't always mean cancer.

Re: Swollen Lymph node
Speaking from personal experience... go see a doctor. Mine were swollen and I thought it was a simple sore throat. Turns out it was severe tonsilitis. My throat almost closed up because I waited so long (about 3-4 days). I was admitted to the ER and stayed overnight. According to my doctor, I was about a day away from my throat closing up and me suffocating. Please, get it checked out.

Re: Swollen Lymph node
Well it's been two weeks and they are slowly going back to normal. The weird thing is, when they were bigger I had no sickness symptoms, but now that they are almost back to normal I contacted a cold. Which sucks because spring break starts today.Comment

Re: Swollen Lymph node
Its always better safe then sorry. Although you feel better it couldn't hurt to go in and get some blood work done. Swollen lymph nodes can be a sign for quite a few things actually so again, better safe then sorry.
Hope you feel better soon. Being sick on Spring break just sucks.Comment
