    Please read this guys.

Hey guys and gals of OS. Listen, I don't wanna be preachy or anything, but I just feel the need to post this here. This is a bulletin I just posted on Myspace and plan on re-posting every now and then. I want you guys to take a few minutes, read this, and really pay attention to it. Thanks.

    ----------
Hey. I usually don't post bulletins, but this is a special situation. It's in regards to the girl Krystal from my school, Everett High School. If you didn't hear, she was killed by a drunk driver (who barely got hurt).

Now I didn't know the girl, she was a grade lower than me. But I heard that she was a nice, popular, pretty girl.

This message isn't about that girl though. This message is to tell all these kids at EHS and even those who aren't in it, to make sure you don't drink and drive this year. I know most people drink, I don't have as much of a problem with that, but please realize that if you are drinking and driving, you are pretty much telling other people that their lives aren't important enough for you to be careful for.

I know we have these presentations sometimes and people saying "don't drink and dirve" in health class, but I just hope that this girl's life isn't wasted, and that a death this close to some people in the school will be a remainder that drinking and driving can end a life and it could be yours or your friends or your families.

So please guys, even if you drink this year, please be mature and responsible. Thanks

This is the link for the news story if anyone is interested on the actual incident that prompted me to write this.

And also, this post is simply just an effort by me to get people to stop drunk driving.

Shame to hear, as soon as I read this I wondered if it was in Eastern MA.

Thankfully the bar I frequent is within a reasonable, albeit uphill walk from my house.

I'm proud to say I helped bust a potential drunk driver last night.

I was following a car for awhile, noticed they were swerving over both lines, constantly changing speeds between 20 and 50 (in a 30mph zone) and came close to hitting a car head on when they drifted over the center lane.

I called the local police, and they had me follow the guy with my hazards on until an officer could get there. It took about 5 minutes from the time I called to the time they were pulled over. I'm not sure if the person was drunk, falling asleep or just a terrible driver, but I felt like I had to do something before somebody got hurt.

On a side note Illchill, I didn't realize you lived in Everett. I live in Melrose, but have a couple friends in Everett and my GF used to live there as well.

Melrose? Very cool, yea thats about 15 minutes out.

But yea, good thinking on that drunk dribing thing man. This thing that happened just touched me and I feel like one if this can stop one drunk driver its worth it. The danger involoved is ridiculously underrated.

I've had experience with this as well, unfortunately the day I called there was no answer at the police station that 911 transferred me to and there was no State Police anywhere in the area. Western MA cops are pretty much worthless.

Yeah I was impressed with their response. I called 911 and they had me on the phone with the Melrose police within 10 seconds. The person I was following was turning onto Main St in my town, and basically driving right past the police station so they nabbed him pretty quickly.

What a shame.. Luckily I don't drink OR drive tho whenever i'm out with my parents anywhere I make sure that the person driving home isn't drunk.

It's kinda odd...I was just watching a CBC archives clip on MADD Canada's first chapter which was in BC.

Anyways it's good of you illchill to send out a reminder to all people about the effects of drunk driving and how it can end a precious life.

Guys listen, this is really pissing me off still. I didn't even know this girl, but the fact that an innocent girl is dead because of some reject who decided to drive drunk (and is out on bail) gets to me like nothing else. Especially since this girl is from my school.

I really feel like doing somethign about this. I want to ask the principle tomorrow morning if I could adress the junior class later this week on this drunk driving. I have so much to say about it, and what I have done on this board is vent more than anything. I just want to make sure stuff like this doens't happen again, which is impossible, but I do believe I can make a difference and with some friends from school and some support I believe a difference, no matter how small, can be made.

Is there any suggestions for how to put something like this together, like some sort of awareness program coming to the school or something? Does anyone know anything about people who do this sort of stuff? I don't wanna start a huge thing really, just plant a seed of awareness to these thick-skulled classmates of mine who see drinking and driving as something they can control themselves.

I'll talk to the principle tomorrow morning, and I will write my next article in the school paper on this, but any suggestions on how to get anything jump-started or something to say to the principle or anything? I am serious about trying this out and making it a success.

Part of being responsible is not getting in a car with a drunk driver.

There were two girls from my school, pictured in my avy, who both died in a car accident relating to alcohol on Ocotber 13th....and it hasn't stopped people from drunk driving in my grade. It's a ****in shame.

THis kind of stuff irks me pretty bad.

My mom was hit by a drunk driver when she was pregnaunt with my little brother. my two cousins, my sister and myself were in that car... we all ended up ok, and my brother was born two months premature (he's 18 now, for some perspective). it couldve ended so much worse. live everyday to its fullest, thats for sure.

The accident itself was a hit and run... we come to find out recently, due to a relative being in jail, that the guy is still up to his old tricks. IM kinda sad he hasnt died yet.

That's what I know will happen here. Its why I wanna do something about it, something that will stick in people's heads and bring a sense of reality to it even more.

Yeah...we still have kids getting trashed, then driving home that night.

It's like....six months ago, we lost two ****in sisters to drunk driving, both from our school, and these people haven't freaking stopped yet. It's just pathetic.
