    College

I was wondering how many of you are in college right now and how your scheduling for the next semester works. It's pretty much a rat race for me where everyone tries to log on at 7:00 a.m. and sign up for classes before everyone else.

We all get assigned certain days when we can register for classes. Of course, I got one of the last days for my class, I just got registered Sunday at 4:30 pm, when my roommates had all been scheduled for a week. Pretty much the same as yours, everyone tries to log on exactly at their time, but I don't think it matters much.

That's how it was for me, and I graduated in 2000. Upperclassmen could register before Underclassmen could. Even with that, still, I was never able to register to take Italian. That damn class (only 2 of'em were available) filled up every single damn time!

        Re: College

I'm at NCSU, and my schedule this semster is that I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Everyone hates me for it. 5 classes Tuesdays and 4 Thursdays so it seems like a long day, but I don't even go to a couple of them. Four day weekends every week is not bad.

But yea, everyone registers at different times here, depending on how many hours you've completed. I got to register a while ago because I brought in a lot from HS. Some of my friends were screwed and barely had any choices left though.

          Re: College

When I was in college, someone's registration time depended on how many credits they had finished going into that semester. So naturally, upperclassmen registered before underclassmen. The first couple years for me I got screwed because I had taken fewer courses to get accumulated to college while playing football. So, I was actually still considered a freshman my 2nd year academically. I ended up not getting into many classes and struggled with the classes I was forced to take. Then I ended up taking a few summer classes the next couple years and got ahead of the rest of the my classmates. I ended up having a sick schedule for my senior year. Here was my schedule for the fall:

3 classes from 11 to 3 right in a row on Tuesday and Thursdays. At midterm, my class at 12:30 I didn't have to show up for the rest of the semester, as it was a Seminar class for my major and I just had to give a presentation of a project at the end of the semester.

That semester was awesome, and it would have been better had I not played football, with it being 4 day weekends each weekend. But it still had lots of benefits; sleeping in until 11 on Tuesday and Thursday and as long as wanted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

yeah, that's how it worked for me as well. luckily I came in with a bunch of credits out of HS, so I was usually able to get the classes I wanted. it was still pretty stressful though.

Same here. Registration here is done based on credit hours completed, so that helps out a bit; I had a years worth of HS credits so I always got to register a day earlier than everyone else in my class. Then again, I go to a tiny school, so its never really that hectic....unless youre trying to sign up for an art class, I hear.
