    Questions about grades???

    Ok, my teacher just sent me an email telling me I need to come in and see him tomorrow morning about my grade.... here's the problem, last week he gave me my grade, and it was a mid-range C... Of course nothing to be happy with but the thing is I passed...

    Well now today he sent out that email saying we must meet about my grade, I'm afraid that he has changed the grade...

    In the first email he said I turned in 9 out of 13 assignments when in reality I only turned in 7 out 13 assignments... My question is, is he within his rights to change my grade even after giving out my grade? And if so is there anything I can do to fight it? I know it was an error on his part to say I got a C in the first place but is there anyway that he would "have to" give me the grade he already told me I received?

    Anyways this is my situation, and needless to say I'm scared pretty bad... My parents would kill me if I came home with a D... So wish me luck guys... tomorrow morning could end up very bad for me.

      btw if it makes any difference(which I doubt)... he sent me my grade by email...

          umm.. what do you mean if its within his rights to change your grade???

          Hes the teacher.. Your the student who only turned in 7 of the assignments. No matter what he grade he gave you in the first place, he still has the option of changing it.

          However, unless this was your final grade for the semester/quarter. If he somehow submitted it already, there should be now way he can change it. But just becuase he told you a grade 1 week, then changes it the following week doesnt mean hes violating any rules. Sorry bud, your out of luck, you better hope he accepts late assignments.

              I think you might be in trouble here Superstar. I am pretty sure that he has the right to change your grade, even if it was your final grade. I have heard of professors and teachers changing grades so a student could avoid having to retake a year or so they could graduate. Good luck though!

                  When i was in college, I was very anal about getting straight a's in my two majors, biology and anthropology. When the last class i took of my last semester, i looked down and the prof told me i would be getting a B+ for the class, i about freaked and told him I needed to get all a's etc and went on for like 10 minutes about it. In the end, he changed it to an A, stating if i cared that much about it it didnt matter to him. Moral of the story is, profs can change grades, if the really want to.
