Beta fishes are badass. I had one, but it killed itself (literally), it dove into the rocks of the vase it was in and it got stuck (I was at school when it happened).

Name it...Hasselbeck.

LOL a thread on a friggin weak arse Beta, real fish tank owners would not make such a thread, name him puss.

They are not "Badd ***" as you say, only against other Beta's. They will die in seconds against South American or African Ciclids. Ciclids rule the common freshwater tanks. Unless we are talking illegal fish such as snakeheads or pirahnas.


Although in my old 300 gallon, I had a red terror (SA Cich) that dominated a tank with 4 red bellys (they kill anything that shows weakness in seconds).

My 40 gallon, I can buy Beta's as feeders (healthier than guppies or goldies) and my weakest fish destroy em' gud'!

Hell yeah I love my African, and South American Cichlids. I have a 29 gal with 7 of em in there. It's a bit crowded, but I've learned by being manager in the fish dept at PetSmart how to get around it. My Red Devil *South American* tries to beat everyone up. He's the dominate one of the tank. Bettas are a easy fish to keep alive. Hardly have to do anything besides feed them every other day, and clean their bowl only once a week when it's cloudy.
