going to florida...looking for a suggestion or two

Ok me and my girlfriend are going to florida next week. (May 20th - 26th)

we get there early saturday morning, but we figured that first day wed lay around the hotel pool, go out to dinner and maybe head over to some place called "old town" which is a block away from our hotel. Neither of us have ever been to that place.

then we'll have 5 full days to do stuff before we leave. We havent decided on what days we will do what but so far it looks like this.

*1 full day will be spent at universal studios.
*question* Has anyone ever been to the "city walk" part of universal? Is it worth it? should we go? Remember we are both under 21 so I read some of the restuants and bars are off limits. Is that enough to not go?

another day will be half spent at Blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon water park. While the second half of the day (evening/night) will be spent at downtown disney going to a few shops, out to eat and disney quest.
*question* which is better, typhoon lagoon or blizzard beach?

another day we will go to Magic kingdom (not a big fan but the girl really wants to go) so we figured wed spend about half a day there, then head over to the polynesian village disney resort and take a nice walk on their beach and rent some of their speed boats in the afternoon/evening, then head back to the hotel or out to dinner that night.

then with 2 full days left we are planning on going to epcot for an midafternoon/evening event because we are planning on doing just a few rides there, along with a nice dinner at one of the country restuants and watch the fireworks go off.

so my next question is what can we do to fill our 1 and a half days?

but please keep these things in mind...

*we dont have a car so public transpertation is our only route and we are just outside of disney

*she hates rollercoasters to adventure island is out of the picture

*neither of us have any interest in the animal place, so no seaworld, animal kingdom or bush gardens.

*We are both about 99.9% sure we dont want to go to MGM, so unless someone completely convinces us too thats pretty much out too.

lol I know that probably takes away everything in the area, but any suggestions or opinions would be appriciated. How about that disney wide world of sports, is that any good? or is there any other resorts in disney that I should try to definatly check out (like the polynesian recommended by my parents)

we are both setting a 800 dollar goal for each of us to spend. Neither of us have been on vacation without our parents so I dont know if 800 is a low or high number for a trip to disney (only activities, airfare and hotel is paid off already) I guess ill find out.

Keep in mind Disney is going to cost you $60 per day each just to walk in the door. And, since you're only planning half days... hardly worth the price.

Blizzard Beach is better than Typhoon Lagoon.... but you can find cheaper Non-Disney waterparks all around.

Downtown Disney is going to cost you at least $75 for dinner if you're eating anywhere but McDonald's.

Public transportation is not really an option in Orlando, but if you get to any Disney property, you can discreetly use their transportation system to get anywhere you want.

I had more fun at MGM Studios a couple weeks ago when we were there than all the other parks. Tower of Terror is a blast.

Should have done a cruise for the money you're going to spend.

alright well your the 3rd out of 3 to tell me blizzard beach is better, so blizzard it is.

We are just outside of disney, but our hotel website said it has shuttles to all the disney and universal theme parks. So thats how were going to get to those.

Yea magic kingdom is going to suck, 60 bucks and I know i dont even want to go, but she wants to go real bad since shes never been there so i guess just gotta suck it up. Epcot also paying 60 bucks to get in the door is going to be hard, but with the nice dinner (an extra 75 bucks probably) and fireworks, with some rides will make it a romantic evening so it should be worth it, especially for her hopefully.

Me im going to be having my fun at the polynesian riding the boats, at universal and the water park. Im sure ill have a blast at disney quest also from what ive read.

So is 800 a reasonable limit or with everything im planning am I going to be wayy over?

Oh, you'll have fun, just you are going to spend a fortune. If you are spending $1600 total between the 2 of you, plus hotel, and airfare (I'm assuming you're flying), for the same price, you could have had 3-4 stops on a cruise and had everything inclusive so you don't pay for food, etc.

yea thats true, we didnt think too much about all that since its our first vacation without parents, and first vacation together. When we brought up vacation we both thought about how much there is to do in florida and how much we fun we had seperatly when we went with our families and how much more fun we believe we'll have with each other.

But to answer your earlier question, you should be ok with $1600. Plus remember, she's going to want souvenirs. I know my wife always does...

I thought the same thing when I saw the money that he was gonna drop... Go on a cruise, you eliminate all the crowding and everything, if you just wanna have some quiet time with the g/f... And everything is included, you pretty much don't have to lift a finger for anything... We've gone on two, one for the honeymoon and one for an anniversary... Best trips we've ever taken.

No doubt about it. We got back from ours about 3 weeks ago, talk about being treated like a king and queen. Lay around by the pool all day and get served drinks. Eat whenever you want to, whatever you want. I ate more lobster on that cruise than I had my entire life. Sat in the hot tub, layed out unders the stars at night, etc. Just an amazing time. Plus, we were were in 3 different cities to explore as well.

We love Florida, my wife and I are going in September which will be 6 years in a row for us. If you like rides go to Islands Of Adventure in Universal Studios. The Spider-Man ride is our favorite. Also the Jurassic Park and Lost Continent sections have great rides.
