I have 2 more weeks, then I'm finished with public school forever.

In September, I go to DePaul University.

I finished up May 11th or so. Got another year left and not too sure what I want to do after that. Plans for the summer.. become even more awesomer in UNO, get a tan, road trip around or something.. and that's about it.

I finished HS in June of 1996, college in May of 2000. What others have said before me is true. Real life sucks. Be cool, stay in school.

Yep. I thought it would be great to work and make money. While making money is nice, I REALLY miss the college years. Best times of my life.

This is too true. I only graduated from college about 9 months ago and I'm already about to have a midlife crisis.

Ah CEGEP. I switched programs while I was there so I stayed there for 3 and a half years instead of the usual 2. University was much better. No mandatory attendance (I usually read a good book that had nothing to do with the class subject while the teacher spoke or just skipped class and walked around the downtown area in Montreal, I spent a lot of time at Chapters bookstore). Homework projects annoyed me very much though.

I'll give you a little hope and tell you that for me, I prefer life now that I'm done with school and have my real job. It's not all bad. Sure, there are responsibilities and obligations but I'd still take them anyday over the endless school projects, often with barely competent partners. Deadlines in school used to kill me. If you find the right situation for yourself, things can be great in the "real" world. Of course, I've never been the "go out every night and drink till you can't stand up" type so maybe my life hasn't changed as much as some others'.

What Cegep did you go to? Do you think we should adopt the school system that the rest of Canada uses?

Sure, making money is great, but real life can weigh on you heavily at some times. I love my life (wife, house, etc.) but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish I was 9 again and my biggest concern was either a baseball game or GI Joe....

I live in Chambly on the South Shore. Nice suburban town, 25 or 30 thousand people. Only 20 minutes away by car.

I did my CEGEP years in Champlain College in St-Lambert, right next to the Longueuil Metro. Then, I got my Computer Science degree from Concordia University. I liked it there. The only annoying thing was all the tensions between the Jewish and Muslim student groups. The propaganda from both sides was everywhere and there were a few incidents that required police intervention, including a riot back in 2002 or 2003. It was toned down during my last year. I don't know how it is these days as I've been out for a year and a half now. McGill obviously has a great reputation, but I hear the atmosphere there is very competitive and you can't ask fellow students for any help. What made me choose Concordia is that you needed to have done Pure and Applied Science (I hate physics and chemistry classes) in CEGEP to get into CS at McGill whereas Concordia only required a couple Calculus courses and Linear Algebra.

My spring semester @ college ended two weeks ago. I've been out of HS for three years now.
