Going to Austin - any tips?

I'm going to Austin next weekend for a concert (lifehouse, fray & james blunt) and am going to stick around for another day or two. It will be my wife & I...any suggestions for places to make sure we hit on 6th St? Good places we should eat? The concert is at Carlos N Charlies...anyone been to a concert there? Any tips? It will be hot so my hope is to get something in the shade (maybe?).

A couple brief suggestions..

There is a great place to eat that overlooks lake Travis.. it may be a bit out of your way but it is worth looking into just for the view and the atmosphere.. it's called The Oasis and it's located some 450 feet above the lake on a cliff.. there are 40 seperate decks (that's just outdoor.. indoor seating also available) to the restaraunt so despite it's incredible popularity, you'll be able to get a seat. It's awesome. No better place to watch a Texas sunset IMO..
I'm not sure where you're staying, but it's a little ways northwest of downtown Austin. May be a few minute drive, but probably worth it.

If you're looking for some cheap entertainment.. try out the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.. Essentially, it's a movie theatre with a row of seats, then a row of tables, seats, tables, etc.. Waiters come around before/during the show (if need be) and you can order food, good pizzas, beer (they brew some of their own, also).. I just think it's a cool concept. You may want to check what they are playing first because it seems pretty random.

We're already going to be at Lake Travis on Sat. for the concert so we'll check out the Oasis...thanks.
