I want to hear your guys opinions, right now i will type what i am going to say..Just so you guys arent totally out of the blue:
First and foremost I am going to startoff with images of some of the greatest baseball players to ever live.
This is our slogan " America's Pastime has arrived in Richmond Virginia". WIth this slogan I wanted to capture the essence of pure baseball. I want people to think of this team not in the light of current baseball ( with steriods hounding the media). We want to bring traditional baseball back.
The team i chose to be in Richmond virginia, is the "Richmond Renegades".
Here is the logo, I kept a very simple baseball theme here. Obiviously the bat and the ball is there because this is a MLB expansion team. And the flowing water also symbolizes something. That Richmond is nicknamed " The river city".
Here our the uniforms, we have 4 uniforms..as most baseball teams do. We have everything from Home to away, and to alternate home and alternate away.
Here our some statistics about Richmond Virginia:
57.19% African American
38.30% White
0.24% Native American
1.25% Asian
0.08% Pacific Islander
1.49% from other races
And there is one Minor league team in richmond called the "richmond braves"
Our target market is both female and male, because the percentages of the two genders are very close. Our targeted race is African american because they are the majority. We want to attract families to the game, so everyone can have a great time, and the kids get a good experience and want to come back. Unfortunatly the average income is 31,121. I would like to target the eastern states to come to the games.
Some of our strengths are:
That there are no other professional teams in Virginia
New team and new stadium should excite people
Lower ticket costs ( lowest is 5 dollars)
Virginia is ranked 12th in overall population
Weaknesses:
We might not have a fan base, considering 4 surrounding states also dont have professional baseball teams.
And the population has decreased over the years.
Opportunities:
Neighboring states dont have pro baseball teams, we can get them to cheer for us because we are close to them.
People from Virginia have never had a pro baseball team, so they should be excited.
Threats:
2 colleges ( vtech/cavaliers)
Income is low
City Rationale:
I chose Richmond because of the location, as you can see on the map, the red states surrounding richmond do not have a baseball team. We can get fans from those states because they have noone to root for by them.
And history. Richmond has a very deep history, and it gives us the " Renegades" name. Richmond, Virginia was the capital of the Confederate states..thus making them rebels ( and rebels is short for "renegades".
Mascot Rationale:
I Chose a blue cardinal, because not only is it kid friendly, But it is the color of our team and is the state bird.
Promo Ideas:
Bobble head day- Be one of the first 10,000 fans
Fireworks night
Announcing- Win a contest and get to announce in the radio booth for an inning
Mascot- Win a contest and get to take a replice mascot home ( ren)
Buy one get another free
Free Parking Night
Kids day
Autographed uniform
Batting practice
Lounge Night- Comfy seats get put onto the seats, take them home with you
Free message day- First 50 fans. ( put anything appropriate you want on the jumbo tron)
Player signing- Someone hits a homerun from the Richmond Renegades? After the game you get that ball signed by the player.
Warm up the pitcher- In this contest warm up the pitcher when he needs to go into the game at a crucial time.
Pick up game- Play around with the team for a half an hour
Travel with the team- Contest with full treatment, travel with the team on a road game
Stadium Design:
Capacity is 42,059
There will be one jumbo tron
We will have the best fast food
ATM machines
and a kid zone
Stadium:
Look on ppt, tell cost of everything ( i will say all of that )
And our special section is the "REN DEN"

Conclusion:
I need more research to see if this is possible. But overall i do not think it could happen, because of lack of income richmonders get. And the location of the state. Having it ALL the way on the east cost does not help. Also virginia isnt a "travel spot". So tourism is limited.
