    Grades came in

    my GPA is a 3.77 out of a possible 5. ( frosh/soph year combined)

I was curious how to find out how good that is..Obviously its no bad and its not really good either.

    Thanks

I'm glad my high school report card doesn't matter now.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

5? I thought it was out of 4? Maybe I've been out of school too long.

It's based off the 5 because of those honor/AP/advanced classes that have weighted grades.

That is a good GPA in high school.

out of curiousity, can someone tell me wat an 85% in Canada is, because here in Canada, anything above 80 is an A, i think maybe because its much harder to get an 80 here, but im not sure...

My report card is like...half that. :y4:

I think I have 3 A's, 1 C, 1 D, and 1 F (I suck at math, and I don't need Algebra II to graduate, so I basically didn't try too hard the last month of the class).

I don't get my report card for like a week or two anyways, since I just got out today.

Meh. I just know that my GPA was 4.3ish+ or so for my senior year (which just passed) even though I had the biggest case of senioritis possible.

                  Re: Grades came in

I had senioritis...which led to my B+ in math(skipped it twice a week Monday's and Friday's because my mom was at work I just wouldn't wake up and get an extra hour of sleep)

But...my four other classes, that i got A's in were jokes. Creative writing...modern lit...an independent study where I just graded the teacher's tests and then an independent study for Journalism that i did nothing in.

Gotta love being good at English and taking all English classes, minus math.

                  My year-long report card is..A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A-, B+

                  I ****ing owned this year.

                    Re: Grades came in

Do -s and +s really matter for your school? A 93 is just as much an A as a 98 where I go, so you better believe all my grades are just above the borderline. All my As are between 92.5-94, and my one B is an 85.2.

                      Re: Grades came in

Those damn weighted grades. My school didn't have them when I graduated in '99, but many of the kids who entered into Mines my frosh year DID have them. Of course I was told that admissions and financial aid folks would "weight them down". BS! I had a 3.68/4.0, pretty good...but not as impressive as saying I had a 4.73 if my grades were weighted up!

Be glad you have weighted grades kids! It'll save you some points off of the smiling Uncle Sam loan bill every month.

                        Re: Grades came in

Eh...I'm pretty sure the A- was like a 92 so it doesn't really matter that much...the B+ though was closer to an A than it was a B, so that adds like .2 to my gpa compared to a B.

Not that i even know what my GPA was...might need to e-mail my guidance counseler and ask what it was.

                          Re: Grades came in

It is a pretty big different..Keep in mind this is Freshman year and sophmore year cummulative:

                          Non Weighted:
                          3.62
                          Weighted:
                          3.77

So im guessing colleges look at Weighted, based on the reactions of you guys.

I took all honors and AP classes, got all A's and a two B's in them. I had one C and a few B's in non-weighted classes...which is why I WISH I had weighted grades.

Seriously though, you shouldn't worry. You're on a good track, weighted or no.
