Re: About to go in for an interview...
I had a job at Kroger. Worst time of my life. I was a bagger though. I guess if you're higher than that, you'd be fine.Rose City 'Til I Die

Any job that said piss in a cup so we can see what you do in your personal life I would tell them where they could go and where they could stick it.
I cant beleive the Civil rights people surrender to corporations, sad really.
Funny thing is I dont do anything that I would have to worry about them discovering.
Edit: What are they looking for? Pot? Hard drugs? You didnt question this you just were like ok let me have the cup?
What next home visits? Closet checks? Friends list?
Is this the standard for High School kids (assuming sorry) in your state?/Country?
Wow and if it is I feel sorry, funny how they make you think you live in a "Free" country.
Oh and good luck with your job.
If you owned your own company would you want a bunch of people on drugs working for you?
Almost any job worth anything in the U.S. requires a drug test now days.
It is not just so they know what you are doing in your spare time, it is also for insurance reasons!
I really dont understand the big deal of taking a drug test, but for some reason most Canadians think it is a super huge deal.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

At least around here, even for minimum wage jobs almost every place does drug tests. Is this the standard for High School kids (assuming sorry) in your state?/Country?

If you find some small family owned store, or something like that you probably won't be tested, but just about any actual chain you are going to be tested.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Wow good one if drugs are being done at work then of course they get fired but cmon I dont think by his post he was even nearly hinting at that.
Also you may not see it as a big deal but little by little that constitution is looking more and more of a crock everyday they take away things and pry into things people should have no business knowing about unless you yourself told them.Comment

People that do drugs outside of the workplace are more likely to do them inside than people who do not do drugs at all, correct? Businesses practice something called risk management, eliminating that type of crap beforehand so they don't have to deal with it.Comment

Re: About to go in for an interview...
Testing for drugs is a CYA (cover your a$$) for the company. It protects the company from screwups by the stoner/drunk/drug user.
There's a lot of intellectual property and valuable information contained within companies and if you have a guy/girl who's drugged up and making mistakes, that's not good.
Here's an example: A guy doing drugs works in a financial institution dealing with individuals accounts. He's high and accidentally swaps financial information for 2 clients. Now you've got 2 upset clients who know the other's info, amount of money in each account etc... They'll likely tell other's who have an account with said employer and company now is in deep trouble. Like I said, CYA.
The way I see it, if someone doesn't like it - don't take the drug test. That person won't get the job and likely won't get a good paying job anywhere, but it's their choice. The way I see it, if I've got nothing to hide, why should I care about pissing in a cup? Not a big deal.Comment
