    Introducing myself

Hello all. Figured I'd introduce myself since I've been a member since sometime late in '04.

I origionally found a link to this site long ago. I think I was probably looking for rosters or sliders. It's a great site. By the time I found it though, I was getting burned out on xbox, mainly the sports games. They weren't fixing the stuff that I wanted fixed in the hoops games, and I was having trouble getting into madden and NFL 2k. I did play in a few leagues for NFL 2k5 though and it was a lot of fun. I loved the private web page for your league, with the stat tracking and user submitted stories and all that.

I'm not a fan of baseball or hockey. Soccer is cool, but it's so hard to get into MLS or European Club because of lack of coverage here in the states. I'm also not a fan of watching golf, tennis, etc... But I'll play just about any sports game, 'cept hockey, don't get it.

I'm not a 2k or an EA fanboy. Whichever game I like the most that year, I play the most. I was sad that 2k lost the NFL license, but I'm not one of those people who's perception of the game is skewed because of it. Both madden and 2k had their share of pros and cons and the best game would've come from combining the two games, taking the good and elimating the bad from both. I usually give the nod in basketball to 2k, especially the last 4 years.

/whisper I also liked Madden 360 this year, don't tell anyone.

I also don't play online a lot anymore. Most of the friends I made in beta and the first year of live are all gone and It's really hard to fine non-morons to play with.

But the sports gaming front looking a lot better with the upcoming wave of games. Looking forward to NCAA football, Madden, TW07, and several others. MLB doesn't interest me as I'm not a baseball fan, but if they release EA releases a version of NCAA on the 360 I'd be all over it. So, I'd like to get involved with some good games, possibly some leagues. I've have a sour taste from most of the leagues I've joined in the past, but seeing how they're running the NCAA 07 league, I'm hoping one day to get into one like that.

I don't post a whole lot. I usually research before asking questions, which hurts my post count, and I don't start posting in threads that have turned into arguments (seems to happen a lot on this site). But I do try and help when someone has a legitimate question that hasn't been answered 20 times in other posts and threads. I'm also not much of a spammer.

But, I'm hoping to get more involved. I'd say about 70% of my gaming is sports. I'd like to get into some leagues that are led by people who know what they're doing and are strict. If I miss the boat the first few times though, I'd still like to play some games.

If you read this far then cool! Hope to get in some football with you all this fall. See ya around.

Hmm, donate then get an interview for what? A league? Not trying to sound like an arse in my intro thread, but I don't know about that. I like the site, but I don't get any info here that I can't get elswhere. I can't finish reading a lot of threads because the turn out to be a flame war after a few pages, if that.

That being said, I'm not a cheap person, and I would gladly donate to this site, or donate money for a league setup on league daddy or something like that, but, like I said in my opening post... I've been in a lot of leagues, most of them sucked and were not even played through to the end. While what's going on in the ncaa football thread sounds promising, I've still never played in a game, let alone a league with any of those guys.

So, paying to get into a league like that isn't something I'm really interested in. I'd have to play in one to see if it was worth it. If I got in and the league got going. If I liked how it was run, the I wouldn't have any problems donating.

For example. I didn't donate before I downloaded my first set of rosters from someones site. If I had been forced to "donate" prior to getting the rosters, then I probably never would have downloaded them, not know if they were going to be worth a crap or not. After I downloaded that first set and it turned out that I liked them, I immediately donated. If that helps you to see where I'm coming from.

If I have to wait until the next league comes along, then that's fine too. Not a huge deal. That will give me time to maybe play some games with people from this site and also to keep track of the league in the forums and see how it is going for them.

The first league I've looked into on this site is the new xbox 360 NCAA 07 football league. I didn't see anything anywhere about needing to donate money to the site before being screened or interviewed, or whatever you want to call it. If that's the case they should put that in their initial thread.

Thanks for welcoming me to the board.
