    Question on job follow up

I interviewed for a job back on Thursday, July 6th which I'm really interesting on getting. It was a long interview process. About 2.5 hours and interviewed with 4 different people. After the interview the technical recruiter of that company, who was the first person I interviewed with, informed me that I should hear something concreate in a week. This past Friday which was July 14th I called the recruiter and left a message. He has yet to return my phone call. Now I do have the number to his assitant and also have the hiring managers number. The hiring manager was the 2nd guy I interviewed with. If the technical recuiter doesn't return my phone call tomorrow would it be appropiate to try and call the assitant? Would it be appropiate to call the hiring manager?

One more thing...on their website this morning I noticed the job I applied for has been taken down. And I haven't heard anything on if I got the job or not. Is that a sign that I didn't get the job?

I would go ahead and call the hiring manager if you hear nothing by tomorrow. If you wait till late tomorrow, call Wednesday early to make sure you can actually talk to him instead of just leaving another voice mail. You have nothing to lose. Just act courteous and if you didn't get the job, keep contact and ask if anything ever pops up in the future that you would be interested in being contacted, unless you're not.

From a management stand point, someone that calls to check the status of their hiring shows me they are interested and they have
initiative. Now if you end up leaving a voice mail for the hiring manager and are not contacted by anyone by the end of the week than unfortunately you can forget about the job, and that just shows bad ethics by the company.

2 hours is the norm for an IT interview! It sucks!

The job taken down is probably a sign that they no longer want resumes and they have the person they want. They might be doing background checks right now and those can take time.

Personally, I'd wait a few days and make another call.

Keep calling and don't give up if you want the job. An employer wants to see your eagerness/ interest in the job. It would surely help against the other applicants that don't follow up.
            Good Luck.

              Thanks for the advice, fellas.

Here's the scoop. I finally talked to the recruiter and he stated that the hiring manager liked me but wanted to go with someone 'more seasoned'. He said that the hiring manager didn't get into specific feed back BUT this is all he got from him.

I was really hoping I was going to work for this company. This will be my 3rd interview in the last 2 years at this same company. I was hoping the 3rd time would be a charm BUT unfortunately it wasn't. I don't know what it is about me but I think this will be the last time I interview for this company. It's a really great company to work for BUT being rejected 3 times tells me that they just don't want me. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Once again, thanks to all for the advice.

                  A little off topic.

I sent my CV to a to apply for a telephone research interview job(conducting surveys). It's been nearly a month, yet they haven't called me. How long does it usually take?

that's the hardest thing to judge -- when to call or not... perhaps just give them a call to see if the position is still available?
