Can anyone tell me about NJ?
We moved to Brandon, FL three years ago but my wife misses being near her family in NY. For various reasons I will not move back to NY. However, I would consider central/southern(on the PA border) Jersey. The little I know about Jersey is being a Giants fan, Great Adventure and Atlantic CIty. I have also heard about there are a lot of country type places to live (me likey) that are close enough to "suburbian" centers. Can someone tell me about nice places to live (we will need to rent for a bit)? How is the job market? Do they have apartment complexes like most of this country (with the exception of NY and CT for some reason)?
I would appreciate any feedback.DON'T PANICTags: None -
Re: Can anyone tell me about NJ?
NJ is a great state that gets a bad rap. The real estate prices are really high so you might be better off being in PA than NJ. North and central NJ are pretty much full of suburbs. If you tell me more about what price range you are looking in, I can give you more info but I would suggest looking at Monmouth and Middlesex counties. -

Cept for a few areas (crapholes), NJ is probably one of the best states in the country to live in."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Can anyone tell me about NJ?
The shore is great too, if you don't mind all the grease (the people, not the food or the sun tan lotion).
Southern NJ is extremely trashy in my opinion, and northern/central NJ is starting to become the same. The suburbs are nice, but real estate prices are ridiculously high. Where I'm from, Short Hills (northern NJ), it's very wealthy and extremely materialistic. It's basically stereotypical upper middle class suburbia. There is a large population of rude and classless people, disguising themselves with "glamourous," seemingly civilized facades. There is also an increasingly large drug problem, where the rich kids get carried away with cocaine and heroin more and more, in addition to ordinary pot and alcohol use/abuse. It's a great place lol. Please note that I'm jaded, but if you grew up here, you might be too. I'm glad I'm in college now, because I needed to get out.Last edited by NYG_Meth; 07-20-2006, 11:13 AM.Comment

Don't listen to him. As long as you aren't living in Newark (which is coming back by the way), this doesn't apply.Originally posted by FootballForeverNJ is teribble, It smells bad, it's a swamp...I hate Jersey, the only thing that I'm forced to like is that my Giants play there....Comment

Re: Can anyone tell me about NJ?
You sound like you are more disgusted with American culture than New Jersey. NJ is definitely very materialistic though. As for drugs, I don't think it's worse than any other place.Originally posted by NYG_MethThe shore is great too, if you don't mind all the grease (the people, not the food or the sun tan lotion).

Morristown has become really nice, especially around Headquarters Plaza.Originally posted by zeroxray0exactly dude. i've lived in NJ for about 2 yrs permanently now and its starting to grow on me. but i cant stand the ppl my age, 23 yrs old. if u goto bars and stuff, everyone looks the same and acts the saem. its ridiculous. they wouldnt know what to do without mtv. and where u live its more ridiculous, short hills mall? crazy

I dated a chick who lived in Cliffside Park, just over the George Washington Bridge... That statement describes her family and friends to a "T"... They were like "90210" wannabes.... just an idiot...don't listen to thisOriginally posted by FootballForeverNJ is teribble, It smells bad, it's a swamp...I hate Jersey, the only thing that I'm forced to like is that my Giants play there....
only places like newark and camden are sh*tholes...and only the factories and swamps by the meadowlands are like that
people like that, that don't actually live in jersey give it a bed rep
if you can afford it, north jersey is the best place to live. im 15-20 minutes from the city, but its very expensive here...its also the most densly populated part in the entire country
new jersey has everything, and if its not here, then its within driving distance
northwest jersey is the farmy area, its about an hour from the suburbs...no one really goes out their, i wouldnt suggest living their
i dont really know that much about south jersey and what its like...youll notice that people from north jersey think nnj is the real nj, and ppl from south jersey think snj is the real part of jersey
south jersey is alot cheaper i think
if you wanna know anything else just ask but dont listen to the guys who go "omg nj smells and its a dumphole because i drove through the bad part one time"Comment

Central Jersey...it exists and it's the best place to grow up in NJ. Best place to live when you want to go out is probably Hoboken.Originally posted by SC3BBallreal talk
