Fellow Canadiens...Did you do your census?

I just heard that you could get either a 500 dollar fine or 3 months in prison if it's not done. We were late doing ours. My sister told us she had sent it, but the census lady came to our house about 3 times, before we finally had to do it in person.

There are many government regulations that have fines and/or prison time attached if you don't supply info. They are also toothless. I work for the government in a similar position and we are routinely denied access to things even though the law requires it. You expect some of these things and just deal with it. Its far more of a hassle to actually try to enforce these laws rather than just ignore the odd loser.

Just Kidding!! I love Harper, but this law seems kind of harsh to me. Doesn't suprise me that it isn't enforced though and thats probably a good thing.

BTW I heard that the reason for this was because some right wing US government agency wants to track what we Canadians do etc etc.

I filled mine out a long time ago. I hope everybody does fill it out because I believe it impacts gov't/city funding in your area.

I highly doubt they would throw anybody in jail for not filling it out.

There are people who have been found guilty of manslaughter that haven't spent one day in jail.
