Well tonight I'm going out to a band party and *sigh* will probably drink enough to get a good buzz going. I don't want to do it. I'd rather stay home and play Xbox and watch some of the ESPN Friday night football game. But I guess I'll suck it up and go hear a live band and if my night sucks enough, I just might be forced to dance with a girl or two. And to cap off a horrible night, I'll probably get her number.

And if that wasn't bad enough, I'll wake up in the morning and watch College Gameday with my date to the Alabama-Vanderbilt game and drink a coke mixed with Wild Turkey or Evan Williams




Bergie...I'm in college. And furthermore, I'm in a fraternity at a football school in the deep south. Alabama used to be one of the top 5 party schools in the country according to the Princeton Review. And if you ever come to Alabama on a Thursday or Friday or Saturday night in the Fall, you'll see why. Its college. Its the best 4 or 5 years of your life.

I got an idea...when I was in school, I decided to keep a cap collection of every bottled beer I drank. Maybe lame, but still (and some nights I'd be jingling like the sidler in 'Seinfeld'). Upon completion, I numbered a good 400+, not to mention the countless cases of Keystone, hard liquor, etc.

Looking back though, I realize that over the five years it took me to earn my engineering degree, averaging 16-18 credit hours a semester, that I wasted over a grand, sum total (including the overpriced upperclass beer supplier fees) on NOTHING.

It's not a badge of courage to get wasted every night...and while I have my share of good memories, it's not something I'm proud of. I'm much more content pouring a nice glass of wine, savoring the taste, and enjoying a night with my wife. It's much classier and pretentious to

*EDIT: Full disclosure, my drinking decreased big time as I approached the legal age, since school started kicking my *** hard (can't take a Differential Equations test hungover, let alone Steel Design), so the total "may" seem low to the mega-drinkers here, but that's why. I also kind of found a girl *

Dear God...I think I hibernated last night. I was feeling pretty weak and congested so I decided to take a nap at 6:45 PM....turns out I ended up sleeping til 6 in the morning!

Oh well at least I feel much better and am only left with a slight head cold. This is the last time I complain about my health on here for a while so don't worry.

I was supposed to work from 9-1pm. I show up 8:50 to see there's about 50-60 people waiting to sign in to booths(i do telephone surveys). About 10 of us couldn't get booths, so they sent us home and we're still getting paid 3 out of 4 hous.

I guess I'll throw in my two cents on the college party thing. I think college is about growing up. College is about figuring out how to live in the real world. I don't think there is a bad thing about partying in college...it is probably good to test and understand your limits, but you aren't at college TO party. However, with that said, I think it would be a disservice to yourself if you studied all the time and never did anything social than you would be missing out on a big part of what college is. Giggas, you don't have to drink and getting really messed up, but atleast join an intermural sports team or a couple clubs or something. Basically....get involved: Academically and socially.

It wasn't my intentions to come off as saying partying is bad, because I don't believe it is.

Anyhow, I am wondering if it will be even worth it to stay after halftime at our football game today. I am guessing that it is going to be a blowout by then because we usually are up by about 28 in these types of games.

I am also beyond excited that by God's grace the antenna I got off of eBay is allowing us to pickup OTA HDTV. Texas vs Ohio St tonight and NFL games tomorrow and Sunday are going to be amazing!

What antenna? I might show my friend with an LCD it, because her HDTV looks worse than mine on analog TV.

According to antennaweb.org we are 70 miles away from the broadcast towers and should only be able to receive one DTV station and no HDTV stations. However, this antenna does pick up all of the Metro Area HDTV stations. From what understand is that a nice thing with OTA HDTV signals is there isn't an in between as far as signal quality. You either get it or don't.

Do a little research about it. I didn't have a hard time finding some information that you need. Also you could ask some of the guys questions in the HDTV thread stickied in the Entertainment and Technology forum.

We just don't all feel the need to mention it in every post like it's some big accomplishment or something.

I don't mention it in every post. I rarely post here anymore. But when I do, its usually in this thread. And guess what? I go to parties alot. So naturally, its gonna show up in some of my posts since this is basically a "what are you doing?" thread. I love how all of the "holier than thou" posters are making rash judgements and saying I get wasted alot or don't realize I'm not in college to enjoy it. I don't drink to get wasted. I drink and once I get a buzz, I stop. I don't drink to where I get sick or do stupid stuff like drive myself home or make an *** of myself in public. And abates, humor me. You clearly have something on your mind that you would like to say to me.
