    How many people read posts?

Who here actually reads every post in a thread before replying, even if the thread is 10 pages long?

    I know I do.

I ask because sometimes I see a thread with a generic question and I refuse to reply because I don't think anybody really cares. We just enter our reply and move on to the next thread.

A typical question which would force that thinking is something like: "Do any of you guys play Poker?"

I would read all the replies, but I doubt many people actually do. Most, in my opinion, just reply back with something like:

"Yea, man. I play Poker all the time. I started playing when I was 15 with my older brother and some of his friends. They'd get drunk and smoke some cigarettes while I drank some kool-aid. It was cool that my brother let me play. Now I beat him all the time."

You may think I'm joking, but those are actual replies. If you don't believe me it's probably because you don't read the threads

But, seriously, guys, who actually reads posts here?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I like to try to, but sometimes I don't.

If it's an intelligent discussion I'll read the replies, but I don't for those generic threads. I've never understood them (even though I've replied to them before).

I rarely if ever post in a thread before reading everything in it. I dont want to duplicate what someone else said. Or in a Impressions thread, I'll read the entire thing, that way you dont ask questions thats pretty much has been answered already.

I tend to read the legible posts. I won't put any effort into deciphering some of the crap that gets typed up. Though if it's a really long topic I'll just chime in regarding the most recent posts.

                Also I play poker.

I tend to read MOST of the posts. Sometimes if the topic is a bit long in terms of replies then I will skim over some stuff just so that I don't repeat what others have already said.

Re: How many people read posts?

Now the irony in all this would be someone replying without reading the previous posts.

Exact same here, with all boards. If it's a debate or an intelligent discussion I will ready every post, whereas other ones even like the impressions thread I won't read every post since a game like madden gets 50-100+ pages.

Though I don't read many topics here.

Yea I like to read an entire thread before I post something. Sometimes you may even learn a thing or two by reading what people say. I like to read the stuff I don't know alot about, and see other peoples opinions on things.

I thought I made this thread more recently than over a year ago. Crazy how time flies.

If it's necessary to read the whole thread I do. If I go into the HDTV thread I'm not spending 3 days reading that thread. A pretty new thread and I'm reading the couple pages. Except I'm not reading page 2 before posting this, HA!
