It's definitely a good deal if you buy a lot from Amazon.

      Re: Amazon Prime

Any time I buy from Amazon, I just lump my purchases together so I get the free Super Save shipping.

I don't buy nearly enough from them to justify their Amazon Prime offer though.

That's the key part of that. I normally just do what Jimplication does and get the free shipping that way. It takes 4 or 5 days for stuff to get to my house, which is fine with me. Would it be nice to have it quicker and for free too? Sure, but I don't know if I order enough per year for it to make a difference for me personally. It really is a good deal though. I'd just have to buy more stuff to really take advantage of the 2-day shipping savings.

That's weird. I thought they signed everyone up to that.

When it first came out (I believe last year) Amazon gave me a three month or something trial. Lets say I bought a lot of cds and books during those months.

But, afterward I realized that I only did because I was getting free shipping. I'm still catching up on some of those books. Great idea, but only for those that order a whole lot.

You have to figure it costs about 3-5 bucks for shipping. So, if you order about 25 things during the year you are saving money. 25 is a lot of things if you don't buy a lot of what Amazon offers.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I was just pointing out something I found funny. I had just come from reading that article and then saw this one. So I was amused.

Actually I felt the same way. Clay posts this and then Simmons was talking about it yesterday too. Anyway, after reading that article, I didn't know about family members signing on as well. That being the case, I might actually sign up for this. I know my mom orders stuff from there a lot more frequently than I do.
