Last week my back was a little sore on random days (not every day), and then on Sunday during my soccer game it locked up quite a bit (kinda painful)...I went back in at halftime, and was able to get it loose where it wasn't hurting, but wasn't playing 100% either. After the drive home, and the rest of yesterday + this morning it's not fun even getting up...Kinda painful to straighten my back and walking is slower at first until it gets less tight. I'm gonna give it a few days-a week and see how it improves, but thought some guys here may have gone through this, didn't know if there's anything i can do to speed things up besides taking it easy.

Re: jacked up lower back
You're getting old, you must stretch before doing athletic stuff!
That's honestly where I believe the majority of my back problems came from, I never stretched until I was 20 years old. Now I stretch for 10 minutes for doing anything, whether it's a 5 mile jog or some serious bball. Even if I'm just lounging around on a Saturday watching football and my back feels stiff I'll stretch for a while. But I have much more severe back issues than you so that might be going overboard. Also, if it's really sore I'd reccomend stretching after you're done w. whatever physical activity you're doing as well.
Also ice, ice and more ice. DO NOT PUT HEAT ON IT. Alot of people see these stupid commercials on TV w. hot packs for your back. Don't do it, just use ice.
I'm sure the actual problem is inflamation, so take some Aleave (sp?) or other anti-inflamatory. If the problem keeps up I'd go see a chiropractor. I go twice a week still - I couldn't live w.o 'em.
Also, if the pain is on a specific side, sleep/lay down on the side that you have the pain on. Alot of people sleep on the side that feels good thinking it's a bad idea to put pressure on the side where the pain is. That's the exact opposite of what you should do.Last edited by ehh; 09-25-2006, 09:18 AM."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: jacked up lower back
yeah, i've been stretching beforehand a bit, but i'll step it up now....and I know i'm getting old, can't hang like I was 20 anymore lol
thanks for the advice, i'll pick up some aleve and i won't use any heat....i'll also try and stretch it as much I can, tougher at work when I'm not moving around as much. I'll also see a chiropractic in a week or so if it's still kinda bad (this week gets busy for me starting Wed, my mom's flying into town, so won't be able to get free until next week).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: jacked up lower back
While you can't stretch, you can do pelvic tilts while you're sitting in your chair. Make sure you have good posture too while sitting.
Do you workout your abs alot, because the strength of your core has a huge effect on your back. Weak core, you'll throw your back out easy. Strong core, you can take a beating much better.

Re: jacked up lower back
Im 17 and this summer i had a really bad back problem. Sadly enough i was jumping on a trampoline and it just went out on me. You need to go to the doctor or chiropractor and see what they say. If the doctor says to stay off of it for two weeks then do it for three because you need to make sure it is healed because it will come back. I didnt and it came back when i got a pick set on me in basketball. The chiropractor is your best bet!Comment

Re: jacked up lower back
Yeah back pain sucks. I have a bad pain, so one day I had my wife walk on it. And it felt better, now I have her do that instead of Chiropractors. I know, but it does work, and my back has felt much better. I don't recommend that lol. Just works for me.Comment
