    St. Lucia or Curacao/Bonaire?

My fiance and I are getting married in Aruba next August. We're staying there for a week, then traveling somewhere to honeymoon for a week.

Obviously Curacao and Bonaire are much cheaper and more convenient to get to from Aruba, but we're looking to stay somewhere unique for a couple nights. The resorts in St Lucia seem to fit this bill better but we're a little nervous about the weather since August is their rainy season.

On the other hand, we're both getting our diving certifications and Bonaire is supposed to be one of the best places in the world to dive. Their weather is also more of a sure bet but they don't have resorts like St Lucia.

Has anybody ever been to either of these? Any suggestions?

St Lucia was amazing. I went there for my sisters wedding. We went to an outdoor lua one night and it was great. The weather was awesome, the food was great and the people were really friendly. We went scuba diving one night, banana boating, swimming in the sea and went on an island tour one day. It was amazing. I highly recommend scuba diving!

If you stay at a resort, I hear it is even better. My sister and her husbad stayed at a Sandals and they said it was great. There were rainforrest tours, volcano tour, waterfall tours and any water activities you want all included in the rates they give you.

Either way I am sure that you can't go wrong though.

We're thinking of staying at Ladera (www.ladera.com) for 3 nights, which is near the Pitons, then staying at one of the Sandals resorts for the rest of week. Do you know which Sandals your sister stayed at? I think there's 3 on the island. Thanks alot for the info.

I'll say Curacao, since Andruw Jones is from there. Other than that, I have nothing real constructive to say .

I am almost positive that it was this one: Sandals Halcyon Beach St. Lucia. They didn't have anything negative to say about it. I am pretty sure we went scuba diving near the resort that you posted. I highly recommend doing that and having it filmed. Also, buy a decent disposable under water camera if you go scuba diving. The seafood is pretty good as well!

Where are you staying/ getting married in Aruba? Is it your first time down there? My family has a timeshare down there and I've been there 3 times and know it pretty well.

We're getting married and staying at the Marriott on Palm Beach. The ceremony will be on the beach and the reception on their deck. Any idea what the deck looks like? Size, view, etc? Most of our guests are staying at the Holiday Inn next door. It's my first time going down there, but my fiance and her family went down last summer.

We'll be there for about a week. We're trying to organize a couple activities to get everyone together during the week. Any suggestions on tours or a boat cruise for about 30 people? We're looking for something less drinking oriented, since we'll be doing the Kukoo Kunuku bus when our friends come down for the weekend.

I haven't been to the Mariott really we usually stay at the Divi which is down the road. But they have all the Hotels and stuff right on the beach so your probably guaranteed a good view.

For dinner you have to try this place on the end of the island, it's right by the light house and it's so nice. It's probably on the highest part of the island so you can see everything and its wicked nice around sunset because you have a perfect view or the sunset. And there is also a couple of places in the downtown area where you can get a good meal.

For activities they have a bunch of stuff. Last time we went on a catamaran which was fun cause it took you to all the good places to snorkle and they would stop and people could get out and snorkle and swim around. They also have parasailing, jet sking, scubadiving, snooba, renting floats for the water. Your going to have a fun time no matter what you do.

On the opposite side of the island there is also a place called Baby Beach which is probably the best place to snorkle on the whole island. It's like a humongous cove where the water is just waste deep, calm and crystal clear.

It's a lot better then New England so I think you should have a fun time .
