    Sports Rooms

Hey guys, I'm thinking of turning my weight room into a weight room/sports memorabilia room. Are there any specific things that a man needs to have in his memorabilia room? I've got my LBJ autographed jersey, bidding on a KB24 Auto'ed jersey...

I'm thinking of Babe Ruth's last visit to Yankee Stadium photo...

Any other classic photos/jerseys, etc... that you all would put in?

Go to Home Depot and get paint so you can paint it your favorite team's colors. The thing about these type of rooms is that they all have their own unique identity. You know what you like, so just load up on that stuff. Oh and share the pics of it.

There's where my problem lies right now man... I'm renting an apartment, and I don't necessarily want to have to repaint it after I move, lol. My old house, I had my sports room painted, and it was really nice. When I moved, I sold all of my photos etc, which now I wish I wouldn't have.

Yeah repainting would be a pain. Maybe some of that sports specific wall-paper then? Dont know how much of a pain that is as I have never seen it in person, just in the MLB catalog that was sent to my house. I had a bunch of sports items too that I no longer have and like you wish I had every single item of it. Of course getting the wife to go along with a sports room now that we have 3 kids might be a little rough.

Interesting you bring this up. I'm in the process of purchasing a house after apartment living for the last three years or so. My first project after any necassary fixes/upgrades is to create a gaming/sports room.

One of my wants for the room memorabilia wise is panoramic photos of various sports areanas/stadiums and candid/action photos of some of my personal favorite players. Somewhat of a bar look, but perhaps more sophisticated, if that makes sense.

              Exactly chippered...

              So far, I'm thinking:

              Muhammed Ali's famous shot 16x20
Babe Ruth's last visit to Yankee Stadium
              Jordan game winner vs Utah
              Kobe 81 pt game

Those are the things that I know I will have in the room. Other than that, I'm not exactly sure.

Yeah, those sound good. I would love for the room to be in the basement so I could have a stair rail made of bats or something like that leading into the room.

The photos can be done well for so little, and the room will look great.

A pipedream of mine would be to have one of the walls be a replica of the Wrigley scoreboard or the entire outfield wall and skyline, but like I said, thats a ways off.

I checked the link, but none of the photos would show up in his auctions. Might be blocked here at work, i'll have to check when I get home or later on today.

I remember seeing on one of those home improvement shows a couple of years ago, a woman was redecorating the basement for her husband while he was out of town or something. Anyway she was turning it into a sports themed room. She found all these photos online, sized them to 8x10 or whatever and printed them and framed them. They actually looked really good. That may be one way to go, depending on your printer and whether you want to use the ink that would require. When the time comes, i'm definetly gonna try it just to see what I can come up with.

Should be fun. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and keep us updated!

                      Re: Sports Rooms

I been to a few houses with sport tickers, i thought that was cool. In the past my gaming room had table top pacman table, street fighter 2 championship edition. I wanted to make my own MAME and have a golden tee ball with it, but i have no space right now to make one.

I like your idea with sports photos. I might have to look around and find some cool photographs of events. About 2 years ago I got a signed John Starks photo (poster size but was an actual photo) dunking on Jordan for my cousin and its was in a nice frame. I actually bought it at a sports store in a mall in california with a TON of signed photos and sports memorbilia. I'll post the site here when I can remember where I got it from.

I also like rooms with electronic darts, a lot of fun. As for your weight set, what are you going to be using?

                        Re: Sports Rooms

I have all of this framed together...
                        -Kobe slam cover signed
                        -8x10 of Kobe dunking
                        -10 rookie cards

then i have a Shaq 8x10(picture of him running the break...haha)

                        Vince Carter signed 8x10

                        Karl Malone signed 8x10

                        Steve Young signed 8x10

                        Jerry Rice signed 8x10

                        Tim Duncan 8x10

It looks nice to just get some 8x10s with nice frames and hang them around.

My uncle has an awesome canvas type thing with pencil sketches of jerry west, wilt, gervin, magic all signed in pencil and numbered to like 25
that thing is awesome but I'm sure its really expenisive.
