    PayPal

I just opened up a new Ebay account and obviously I need PP. My question is, what type of account should I open? Personal? I ask this because I do plan on selling some stuff and for personal is says doesn't accept debit or credit cards. Any help is appreciated..

      Re: PayPal

i would say CLOSE IT DOWN.

but before you do that, read into all the agreements and what needs to be done so you protect yourself from chargebacks.

you can have a personal account as long as noone sends a payment via credit card or debit card or echeck. a few months ago, ebay let you write those rules in your auctions, but as of right now, once you accept paypal payments in your auction, you have to accept every form of payment.

now you could be lucky and have 2-3 transactions go by and you wont have to upgrade. but eventually someone will pay with a credit card and youll have to upgrade and forever accept their fees

premier vs personal entails a 2.9% +30cent fee for every transaction.

they really created some nice rules for themselves.

bottonline, youll eventually have to go up to premier if the buyer sends you a credit card payment through paypal. theres no denying it. those are the rules.

also, send all items or goods to CONFIRMED addresses only. you can set up limitations on your account settings to have only confirmed addressed bidders bid on your item. it prevents hassle. also, paypal needs online trackable delivery confirmation for all items under 249, if you plan on being protected. over 250 dollars, you need SIGNATURE confirmation.

i live by those two rules.

      1. I send only to confirmed addresses. which means if a mother buys an item for her daughter and the paypal invoice shows the moms house, you NEED to ship it to the house if you want to be protected from a chargeback.

      2. I use delivery confirmation on all items shipped out. I use signature confirmation via USPS for items over 250 dollars.

if you mess up on one rules, paypal will say tough luck. even when you do follow, they tend to say tough luck.

its quite the risk and reward website.

        Re: PayPal

Upgrading to premier is really not a big deal. I've actually done it already, though I don't remember when or how.

And yes, only ship to confirmed addresses.

How long is the process of confirming my bank account? I put the info in and PayPal said they made 2 small deposits ranging between .01-.99, and that I have to put in the deposit amounts. How long before this shows up on my account?

                  Re: PayPal

Personally I use my main checking account but that's because I don't have bills automatically paid on my account. Therefore I can withdraw any amount of money from my account and put it in paypal without having to worry about having enough money in the checking account to pay bills etc etc.

EDIT: about thw whole confirmed/not confirmed. At the moment i'm not verified (my address that is) but I haven't had a problem buying anything. I'm waiting on a credit card in the mail tho and once I get it i'll be verifying my account.
