    Building your legs up with only 5/10 pound weights

    Im not even sure if you can do this..Is there any exercise you can do with 5/10 pound weights or anything else to build your leg muscles.

    Its all i have and it works on my arms cause i do tons of reps. And 200 crunches a day does alot more than i thought it would.

    So i was curious if theres anything i can do to build my legs up with virtually no equipment..thanks

    Well people have been running since the beginning of time, thats a great way to work legs.

    I'm in the process of doing a jump program called Air Alert, it only requires a bench and after two weeks I can tell you its working really well.

        It depends on what you're trying to accomplish, you're not going to get much explosiveness w. 10 pounders.

            Thats a good idea..i think we have 18 stairs.

              I also heard Air Alert works wonders, I'm trying to get myself a copy of it. I accidently deleted my last one.

                  I done air alert in high school for a while, not even the full program, and I got to the point where my elbow could touch the rim. Excellent program, but stick with it if you try it.

                    Building substantial leg muscle with 5-10lb weights isn't possible.

                    You may incorporate the weights as some type of cardio but as far as building muscle mass it will do little for you.

                    Building muscle requires subjecting the muscles to more stress than they are used to. The muscle tears, breaks down, and grows back stronger.

                    Think about it this way. People walk around with luggage, suitcases, and backpacks all the time. This doesn't mean they will grow large leg muscles. Likewise, you could lift you arm in a curl like motion without weights a million times. It would probably burn but it wouldn't grow any more muscle.

                    You need to subject the muscles to greater resistance. I don't understand the small dudes in the gym that do like 50 reps of curls with a 5lb weight. Will you get a good burn? Of course, but you will also get a good burn from cardio.

                    Every person is different but I would suggest finding a weight that you can do anywhere from 8-12 reps. If you can do more than 12 reps you probably need to up the weight.

                      im 5'9" & white and i did probably less than 8 weeks of air alert & got to the point that i could dunk anything i could palm.

                      two of my friends <6ft both stuck w/ it and dunk no prob now. i just couldnt donate the time when it got to doing 12000 burnouts was it?

                      phenomenal system though

                        you dont need the tape- there are like 5 really simple "workouts" (very easy manuevers) if i remember and then you only need the chart saying how much to increase each week

                        i'll "reproduce" the chart & post if i find it

                              Yea post that up if you can bro. I'm mostly healed from my latest ankle injury (tore all the ligaments in it a year ago), so I'm trying to get some vert back.
