    Illinois residents...HELP! Moving to Springfield!

Hey guys, my family and I come to this great forum in need of some help. I know there are a lot of Illinois residents on here, a lot folks who may have lived there (the Bears fans on here are numerous) and several others who have live in neighboring states.

Anyway, my wife just got news that we are to be relocated at the end of the month to Springfield, where we will live for the duration of this huge project (a good four years plus). We are looking for something to "own", a house, condo, townhome, whatever. We have a just three year old son, who will be starting school while we are there. Anyway, some things we are looking for:

-my wife will be working downtown at the Illinois Tax Commission (i.e. Department of Revenue)
-we would like a new development when it comes to housing, with at least three bedrooms and two floors
-we would like easy access to the usual: restaurants, grocery stores (quality goods, not cheap), retail outlets, etc
-the major issue above all is schools. We are thinking of the private school route, but quality public schools are a minimum.

Any help, zip codes, addresses, etc. would be MUCH appreciated. I'm also interested in information on HDTV programming, internet, phone, and any other stuff. Also recommendations for quality eating establishments would be nice as well.

Hopefully you guys can assist in this sudden change. I'll be happy to answer any questions, and thank you for any help you may provide.

Not from Illinois but would like to say good luck. I've never moved to a different state but even moving to a new city is tough. Getting to places around you and everything else should be fun. Getting to know your new neighbors. Good luck man and I hope it all works out for you.

Lucky guy not having moved...it's a pain in the arse! At least my wife's company is picking up the tab, though if the ding my brand new Highlander Hybrid or my new home theater components I'm going to raise some holy hell

The neighbors thing is big, since it will be our second house (renting currently). If you create ill will over the guys who you stare at on weekend BBQ's you will be in for a hard time.

Johnny, I live in Illinois in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. If you guys are moving to Springfield, that is far from the downtown area. Do you have to move to Springfield? Send me a PM and we could talk more.

Im sorry that you are moving to Illinois, I would suggest you bring alot of cardboard boxes and construct a shelter. Im assuming you will be able to afford the outrageous taxes you will be paying on that shelter. Illinios is soooooo corrupt, Im pretty sure the Govenor will meet you at the state line to take a contribution from you. Seriously Im closer to Chicago so cant help you find anything.
