Can you lose weight or get in shape strictly from

working out in a swimming pool?

Im curious. Just thinking how I can no longer get to a gym but wanted something that is easy on the joints, and doesn't require me to set up and take down my weight set every single time I want to workout.

Has anyone here done this or considered this?

Yes. Swimming is some of the best exercise that you can get.

I'd imagine you can't just run in place and hope for the best.

But, I'd bet that there are certain exercises you can do in a pool that will work out the same muscles you can work out in a gym.

It'll probably even be better. Like you said, you won't have to worry about weights and risking injury by doing too much weight or doing the exercise wrong.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
