How do you browse OS?

Hey guys,

Bates and I were talking, and I got curious. It occurred to me that there are several different ways to browse OS. There's the main page, the forums, subscriptions, and so on and so forth.

My question is...how do you browse OS? Is there a daily routine you go through? Do you use the subscribed threads feature? The "New Posts" link? How do you browse it?

For me...I usually browse from the main forum page. I'll start at the bottom of the forum, meaning the OS Neighborhood, Non-Sports Gaming, and Entertainment & Technology forums, just reading whatever new posts are there.

Then, I'll usually venture off to the section of the forums dedicated to whichever game I'm playing a lot of at the moment. Lately, it's been College Hoops, although the new jerseys being released for Madden and NCAA have made me check those forums a lot as well.

Once I'm done with that, I'll go back to the main forum page...and just kind of eyeball conversations I felt were interesting when I initially got on OS that day/time, waiting for new posts.

Anyone else?

I use the subscribed threads feature. First thing in the morning whenever I first log on, I check my subscriptions, read/react/whatever, then I'll check Steve's daily post. Then I'll go down through the forums looking for anything new that's been posted, and either respond or just add a subscription to keep up with the conversation, then for the majority of the rest of the day, I just refresh my subscribed threads page. Towards the end of the work day, I'll check the non sports gaming section/Entertainment & Technology section, since those are where I spend the majority of my time.

Hmm well...

I look at the main forum and eyeball all the newest posts for each category. Depending on the season I check the pro football/pro baseball forums first and work my way down.

After browsing around my areas of interest I "mark the forums" read and wait for new posts in conversations I find interesting or want to participate more in.

I start out on the main forum page, in the Non-Sports gaming, then the Entertainment & Tech. forum, then over to Wrestling and its sub-forums. Then like you, I'll venture off to the other forums.

Theres a neat little hack that I have used on other vB boards. You can place it at the top of the forum, or the bottom. And it updates with the most recent threads/posts. If OS had that, I'd probably use it to keep up with what conversation is hot at the moment.

I usually hit the Pro Baseball forum first, then make my way around depending what season it is and what's being discussed. I then make my way to the entertainment and tech and OS Neighborhood for the obligatory make fun of MagicBucs post.

Lately I've been spending a lot more time lurking in the CFB forum.

I will usually start browsing at the index and then go from there.

I only view/post in Basketball, the OS Neighborhood, Non-Sports Gaming, and maybe Entertainment & Technology forums because everything else I really don't have an interest in.

I first go to the Pro Baseball and College Basketball forums, and see what's new around there. Lately, I've checked the CBB forum first to post my matchup picks.

From there, I go to the OS Neighborhood/Entertainment forum. I see what news is out there, and what other people have been talking about.

After that, I check the Pro Basketball, College Football, Pro Football, etc. forums.

The problem with "New Posts" is it only lets you do it once a minute. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm a chronic refresher so it slows me down too much.

I normally read Soccer, Wrestling, College FB, College BB, Pro FB, then the non-sports sections of OS, in no particular order.

I have nothing to do up here at school.

I start off at the User CP, check my subscribed threads (anything I post in becomes suscribed), then my suscribed forums (NCAA FB Vets and NBA Vets and Wrestling), then go to new posts, and just browse that way. I usually do that as a cycle, where when I get to the last of the new posts, I go back to the User CP to see if anything's changed.

I have the forums bookemarked in my favorites since I never really hit the homepage anymore. I always check out Non Sports Gaming first, then Ent & Tech, OS Neighborhood, Football, and Wrestling.
