    December 7, 1941

    65 years ago today, folks.

My grandfather was in the Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack, on one of the only destroyers out of port when the attack occurred. His ship stumbled upon the Japanese fleet, attacked them, and was blown out of the water. After floating around among the wreckage for a while, he was eventually rescued and is still alive today. Hearing him talk about Pearl Harbor is pretty amazing.

Here's a short clip of FDR's address to the nation, if anyone's interested.

Spare a thought today for those who lost their lives on that fateful day, one which will forever live in infamy.

I have the utmost respect for anyone and everyone thats ever fought for the USA to make and keep it a free country.
There is no place like Nebraska
      Dear old Nebraska U.
Where the girls are the fairest,
      The boys are the squarest,
Of any old school that I knew.
There is no place like Nebraska,
      Where they're all true blue.
      We'll all stick together,
      In all kinds of weather,
      For Dear old Nebraska U!

Won't change this signature until Nebraska wins the National Championship...posted 8/16/05

If you haven't seen it yet, Tora Tora Tora is about 1000x better than Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor movie.

1000? That's being a little light. Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor has like 3 facts right. One was it being based in Pearl Harbor.

You mean "Pearl Harbor" with Ben Affleck? One of the worst movies made in the last 10 years, period.

Watch "Tora, Tora, Tora" instead, as Skerik said.

                Take care,

Seriously, that was complete garbage. I hate when they ruin movies trying to make it romance stories.

Thanks for posting this Skerik. It's nice to see the day remembered. I'd agree on the Tora Tora Tora reviews. It's hands down the best movie made about Pearl Harbor.

The biggest blunder of the war by the Axis Powers. Thank the Lord they didn't have the foresight to see what they did by waking the sleeping giant.

Nonetheless this was the day that changed everything. I respect anyone that fought in World War II. It was the last "good war" IMO.

It's a shame that so many people had to die in order to bring peace to the world but it was needed.

God bless those who fought for the freedom of humanity.

I'd like to thank those Vets of WWII my grandfathers included, and those Vets of Peral Harbor. Still a tiny few of those around in my area at least. God bless the USA!!!

My Grandfather also fought in WWII, although it was in Europe.
