    Re: All-nighters...

I don't think I've ever done it. Sure, I've stayed up 'til 5AM or so doing homework... but I have to get SOME sleep.

      Re: All-nighters...

I said this in Steve's thread for the day, but good luck, guys. Finals are no fun, and like others have said before in this thread, get some sleep.

Popping Vivarin and forcing yourself to stay awake is no way to pass your classes. You'll think MUCH more clearly if you're well rested going into the exam.

      Again, good luck!

Well I ended up getting some sleep last night. Also, I wasn't studying for an exam...I was trying to finish this paper.

I have all weekend to write two more papers. Both should be fairly easy, and I'm thankful.

            Re: All-nighters...

I've done all nighters quite frequently. Everytime I do I get a high A on the project/paper and it further boosts my ego, which encourages me to procrastinate on other assignments.

The only time it was bad for me was when I did that, and then decided it was a good idea to drive home. Up all night + 4 hour drive on interstate 40 = falling asleep.

Luckily I didn't kill anyone or myself when I crashed.

If you are staying up all night studying for finals you are not very smart. You shouldn't have THAT much studying to do if you learned the material in class during the semester anyway. A few hours for each exam should be plenty unless you in some law/med school stuff. Studying till 5 AM is going to hurt you not help. Theres 24 hours in a day you know?? Use your time wisely and you can go to sleep whenever you want and feel rested.

I guess if you are writing papers, doing projects, etc. it could be a different story.

                Re: All-nighters...

Never pulled an all nighter once in college. I actually studied the whole week before exams thus not needing to stay up all night long the night before.

                  Re: All-nighters...

When i was in college, all nighters were frequent for me, mainly becuase I was very compulsive of getting straight a's. One time i satyed up 3 freaking days in a row for all my finals, then partied on the 3rd night (slept about 16 hours on the 4th!). If theres ever a time you can pull this stuff off, its this time in your life, so take advantage of it. When you get to by 30, everything changes, and you pay for those types of decisions the next day.

some papers and projects are given earlier in the semester and just require a certain amount of hours to complete...

At least for the stuff I was talking about, it was never a surpise what the assignment was, I just put it off until I couldn't anymore.

Won't be pulling any this week and probably never will for school.

I barely have the attention span to study for a few hours at a time, all night will not happen.

I get bored after 15 minutes of studying, and papers/essays usually take me an hour to write 4-6 pages, if I want a B or B+, so I never really have a reason to stay up all night.

I have a paper to write sunday, and then an exam to study for Monday and I'm all set. I'll go out tonight, have some fun, then just chill out tomorrow night...bust out the paper sunday and study all day monday. No biggie.

With some short breaks here and there I have been studying Securities Regulation since 9am. The stuff really isn't as hard as I thought and is finally sinking in right now. I still however have the most difficult portion left to outline, happy happy joy joy!

I would never stay up past 11 doing schoolwork. TV and video games yes, but never school. Screw the grade. Just skip and finish it in the library the next day.

With exams you can't really do that. Medical classes especially trust me I know.
