I got published...

I know it's not too important, but I wake up yesterday morning to an IM from my mother. It went something like this:

"Mom: Longhorn!
Mom: Maybe you're not awake yet...
Mom: Guess not...
Me: I'm awake.
Mom: My little longhorn is a published author!
Me: Huh? And stop calling me Longhorn, you're embarassing me
Mom: Your college essay was published in Teen Ink.."

Okay, so it didn't exactly go that way...but she did IM me yesterday morning to tell me that she recieved a copy of December's TeenInk, and my college essay was published in it.

For my Creative Writing class last year we had to send one piece of work, of our choosing, out to a publication or contest or something. I chose TeenInk, and my college essay. Sent it in at the end of May and it actually did get published.

Just...thought I'd share it with you guys, for no reason what-so-ever.

Thanks for all the kind words. The essay got me into 8 colleges, so it was good enough, I guess. And it got published...so yeah.

And yeah, my Mom IMs me a lot. Acid has seen a few of the funnier conversations
