    What to buy the parents?

What are some good gift ideas to buy the parents for christmas? I'm kinda short on money, so I was thinking of just buying them gift cards to the mall. However, that seems kinda lame. Any suggestions?

I love how Sucre uses "the parents" like it's a specified set of parents that everybody is familiar with, and how MassNole uses "mother" like she's all of the OS members' mother.

I love how you contributed to the thread.

        Anyway...

Gift card sounds good, because it kinda leaves the door open for them to get whatever. Maybe some DVD's, or books if your parents are into reading.

My brother bought my parents a 50 inch Samsung LCD HDTV.

The family needed it bigtime. And that's the only thing the house could really use.

I'm going with a CD for each of them, and then my sisters and I will buy a bunch of other, bigger, gifts. Gift cards, travel bags...clothes...can't think what else we thought of.

What you should consider doing is focus on a thing they can do together. What we were going to do was send them to the Sybaris but it might be a little too pricey and everybody got laid off for a little while. So instead, we're thinking about giving them both a day at the spa. Have to see what it looks like though. I fear that video games are taking a backseat for these freaking holidays.

                  Day at the spa
                  Breakfast/lunch/dinner at a nice restaurant
Drive them around town while playing nice music
                  Plays they could go to
Fix them a nice meal or something

Do something where they're a couple cause it kills a lot of finding a gift for both of them. Just the thought that counts.......

I bought my dad an espresso maker since he drinks drinks it everyday and a fax machine. I am also paying for us to get our picture taken together at a studio.

My sister and I split the cost of two tickets to a big Wine Fest that Foxwoods or Mohegan is having (my sister got the tix so I don't remember which casino it's at) so my parents can do something together. It was $60 a ticket, not too shabby.
