    Chiropracter

Anyone ever been to one? If so, how was your experience? Did he help fix what was wrong?

I have an appointment to go at 10am tomorrow, to have some X-Rays done and see what's wrong.

I'm almost positive that it's something wrong with my spinal cord. Probably a C5, which affects the deltoids (shoulder) and my arm. I have constant pain, and sometimes I can barely lift my pillow because it hurts so much. I have alot of trouble getting a good grip with my left hand. It's gotten worse in the last two weeks.

It was probably caused over 3 years ago from my car wreck, and has gotten progressively worse. To make it worse, I don't have very good posture when sitting at the computer, and my matress is very poor.

I really hope he can figure it out, because it's getting to the point where I can barely sleep through the night.

    Re: Chiropracter

From what I have heard, there are good chiropracters who can actually help you and have your interests first. And then there are bad chiropracters who can hurt you and take lots of money very quickly from you.

If the chiro starts setting up multiple appointments = Red Flag. If he tries to sell you stuff = Red Flag.

But they can be extremely helpful. My mom went to a Chiro a year ago, he realigned her spine and she is much better.

I would also suggest some alternatives like accupuncture and that kind of stuff.

I hope it works out for you and good luck.

I feel like I'm in pretty good hands because it's a friend of the family that's worked on my uncle and my grandparents. I've heard nothing but good things from this guy.

I definitely plan on doing accupuncture as well. My grandfather has done that alot this year, and really likes it. I think it would do me some good.

        Re: Chiropracter

Thankfully, I personally know my chiropracter (in the sense that he wouldn't screw me out of my money). But, from my personal experience, it seems that chiropracters are much better at popping in what they know that they need to pop in. Doctors are best for finding out exactly what needs to be popped. Considering most chiropracters do things by feel, nerves, and response rather than also including breathing patterns, x-rays, and possible muscle spasms (which is what back pain sometimes just ends up being), then their diagnosis may be incorrect and they may not be doing the thing to your back that really needs to be done.

First make sure that you have your correct area and that you sort of know what needs to be done with it. From that point on, most chiropracters will probably be able to fix you from there. It always has helped for me... perhaps not instantly (you should probably actually be in more pain at first), but it takes time to heal. It's like a dislocation... just because it's popped back in does not mean you're now healthy.

        Hope that helps.

My Uncle is a chiropractor so I've gone to him on and off most of my life.

The problem many have is that they expect to go once and have everything fixed. That's just not the case. Typically someone has to go time and time again to fix what's wrong.

Well I just got back...and I feel a little better. Like mjb said, as well as the chiropractor...you can't expect to have everything fixed in one visit. I've got appointments set up for this Monday, Wednesday and Friday and likely a visit or two the week after.

He took X-Rays, and showed what was wrong.

This isn't mine, but it's pretty close to what I have. On the right is what's considered normal and healthy. On the left is the one with problems. Mine is actually a little worse than that because it's more straight and towards the top, actually curves outward.

I'm just happy I'm getting it fixed because it really does hinder somethings I'd normally be able to do, especially trying to play guitar. It's pretty hard to move your fingers quickly up and down the guitar when there's nerves being pinched.

anyone ever have lower back spasms from sleeping wrong?

i get them from time to time and i basically feel paralyzed with the off again on again pain that comes with everyday movements.

you think I could tell them where the pain is and theyll straighten it back up?

my back is known to just get better if it gets spasms or sharp pains like that but its going on 4 days now...
