I did. I can recall maybe one or two memorable New Year's Eve parties, but I can recall a ton of killer parties from other times during the year when I was younger.

New Year's Eve is Amateur Night. A totally artificial reason to celebrate, unlike something with meaning, such as a birthday, graduation, wedding, favorite sports team winning a title, gathering of old high school or college friends, etc., etc., etc.

Whoopee! I made it through Dec. 19. Guess I'm going to fire up the bong, drop some acid and have a half-kegger tonight!

My point is that New Year's is just another date on the calendar.

If you're only reflecting on the negatives and turning them into positives one day per year, woe is you. That's a daily occurrence for me, as the goal of self-improvement in every facet of life never ends.

Going skiing in Maine if we ever get any snow. Don't really care too much about New years, it's just a good weekend to go skiing since we get the extra day off.

Now that sounds like fun. No snow here in Central New York, either. In most years, I've been skiing four or five times by now.

Don't forget beers in the lodge after skiing!

So I guess the fact that half the entire world is closed down for New Years doesn't seem to have any significance. If you say so.

It is on Christmas and Easter, too. Do you have huge, booze-swilling, biatch-pounding parties on Christmas Eve and Holy Saturday?

Not really but I have gone to 3 work related Christmas parties already. Where the booze was excessive. Not to sure about Easter. I pretty much party all year around but whats so wrong with going out and partying with the largest crowds of the year which is on New Years.

Nothing at all. I just don't care for it since there are so many morons out who can't handle their liquor because it's Amateur Night. Not to mention there are cops out all over the streets looking for those morons behind the wheel.

Well its good to party at a place you can stay the entire night. Ethier a house party or a hotel party like I plan on going to. I understand what you mean and its impossible to avoid dummies behind the wheel. As for morons that cant handle their liquour, we were all there at one time. More times than often, they provide good memories. I know I got my fair share of New Years stories.

the fact that the calendar changes is nothing to me really, but my father's birthday is new years day, so my family and friends usually get together and have a good time. at midnight, we sing happy birthday, it is pretty cool.

My friends and I(about 15-20 of us) may rent 2 hotel rooms and have a hotel party.

More realistically...find someone's house where the parents left and have some fun.
