Is this the best scammers can do?

    Just got this email...

    U.S ARMY PERSONNEL
    1st Armored Division(IRAQ)

    Dear Friend,

My name is Sean Dennis Franz, I am an American soldier, serving in the
military of the 1st Armored Division in Iraq, As you know we are being
attacked by insurgents everyday and car bombs. We managed to move funds
belonging to Saddam Hussien's family. The total amount is US$25 Million
dollars in cash, mostly 100 dollar bills. We want to move this money to
you, so that you may invest it for us and keep our share for banking.

We will take 80%, my partner and I. You take the other 20%. no strings
attached, just help us pick the box out of security company in london
and keep it for us right now Iraq is a warzone. We plan on using
diplomatic courier as soon as you claim the fund out of the security
    company
    in london

If you are interested I will send you the full details, my job is to
find a good partner that we can trust and that will assist us. Can I
trust you? When you receive this letter, kindly send me an e-mail
    signifying
your interest including your most confidential telephone/fax numbers
for quick communication also your contact details like full
    name,address
and your identification for security purpose.

    This business is risk free.

    Respectfully, Sgt. Sean Dennis Franz.

Dennis Franz. I wonder if Andy Sipowicz is his partner.

That's at least marginally better than the Nigerian email thing and apparently people still fall for that one.

I'm sure they don't need to do better. Hundreds of people fall for this (maybe it's thousands). That's all they need. Some poor old couple who is naive enough and wants to help someone out; those are great targets - and they fall for it all the time.

You know what you do? Ask him for his most confidential telephone/fax numbers for quick communication... along with his address (seeing you already have his "name"). That always shuts 'em up.

Ill give it a shot. Just sent an email asking for his social and credit card information so I know I'm not getting scammed and to build trust.

Yea have some fun with him!. Do the other people who actually fall for these things ever take the time to wonder, "Hey how did he get my e-mail address." Also people really think some stranger is going to pick out another stranger to hold onto $25 mil in cash for them? Anything EVER like this is just stupid scams and spam. If you want you can have some fun with them, and act like you are in the FBI or something and scare the **** out of them. Trust me the e-mails stop coming. As long as you can make it very official like they tried to do. Oh and BTW no matter how real it sounds to anyone else the absolute dead giveaway is that he claims its $25 mil mostly $100 bills. Well over there in Iraq they do not use American currency(imagine that). They use Dinars.

I'm positive he's only trying to have fun with it.

No but I got one saying Bill Gates would pay me $100,000 to use Internet Explorer. Too bad they didn't know I hate IE.

Oh I'm sure of it. Just a bit of warning to everyone because there are millions every year who fall for it. Changed my original message because I didn't mean to have it sound like it was directed towards him. None of it was.
