I can stand on my driveway and slide down it. All I have to do is lean forward a little bit!

The roads are horrible! It is the worst I have ever driven on.

Wow, according to the news broadcast, I should be right in the middle of the ice storm, but everything is just cold and wet here.

We're just supposed to get alot of rain here over the weekend, but West of us they're expecting a pretty large ice storm. Possibly over an inch of ice on the trees and power lines.

That would really suck to lose power on a weekend with great NFL playoff matchups.

Anyways, if you're being hit by this...please be safe and don't drive unless you absolutely have to.

I am in SW Missouri and it is really bad here. There are trees down everywhere. If you stand on the porch you can hear trees snapping all over. We lost power last night for about five hours but they got it back on. We are one of the few houses in town with power. I have never seen anything like this.

Well, we had the option to take a PTO or go to work from 9-3 instead of 8-5. I was going to go in today.

Got up, looked outside and saw my car covered with ice as well as the streets and just called in and told her I wasn't coming today.

The storm is projected to reach Houston tomorrow, the current forecast calls for a mixture of sleet and snow. The thought of 3 million Houstonians, not one of whom actually knows how to drive in those conditions, trying to get to work tomorrow is enough to make me stay at home.

We have a number we can call at work to see if the office is going to be open or not. So I guess I will wake up and do that. We don't get much snow or ice over here so I am sure the roads will be a disaster area.

                          Re: Oklahoma/Texas Ice Storm

I had to drive from Omaha, Nebraska, to Ft. Worth, TX on Sunday. We left at 8 AM (the drive is usually ~10 hours) and didn't make it until 10:15 PM (I'm just happy we made it without killing ourselves). We knew the roads would be terrible, and were counting the cars we saw on the side of the road or wrecked out at first.. after a while, that became pointless. At one point, I was on I-135 in Northern Oklahoma, and the vehicle in front of us (about 500 yards) was a 15 passenger van that spun out of the inside southbound lane, across the median, and into the inside northbound lane. It's a wonder they didn't get hit or flip...

The roads were just as bad as they sounded. At one point, a portion of I-35 was closed down over a long bridge in S Oklahoma. I have no idea why (except for the idea that it may have been covered with ice). There were 8 or so state troopers closing the road down... But the whole ice explanation didn't make much sense because there were 30 or 40 cars, trucks, semis parked on the bridge. Maybe a huge wreck.

                          I'd recommend not driving.

It looks like some form of this storm is also hitting the Northeasthttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070115/ap_on_re_us/winter_blast

On a weather/world is coming to an end note, although not nearly on anywhere similar to the same level, out here in Cali we have had record lows that have damaged millions of dollars in food crops and other things.

Like I said not nearly the same, but it goes to show about weird weather everywhere!

This storm kicked some @ss here outside of St. Louis. I have been without power since Friday night. My neighborhood looks like a tornado came through, there are trees down everywhere. Luckily, there were about 20 utility trucks lined up at the entrance to my subdivision this morning, so hopefully I will have power by tonight.
