I am beyond annoyed right now......RANT

So my wife and I are looking to refinance our house at a better rate, we called a Mortgage Company on Monday and did the application and then faxed the stuff they needed the next day. Yesterday I hear call and am told I'll hear maybe last night, today at the latest. I called this morning, eager to find out and get it done, I leave a message. Several hours pass, no call back. I call again, am told the person I worked with is there and leave another message. A couple hours pass, no call back. It is getting later and later, I am used to loan reps calling back within a couple of hours, but alas it is now 7:15pm at night, and despite the guarantee to call back today, I heard nothing, and this is from a company who prides themselves on 'prompt' service and returned calls.

I am sure I am being a jerk, but given the rather substantial amount of money involved, would it be wrong for me to demand to work with someone else? I really don't like the idea of paying a commission when my business obviously meant nothing to the first assclown. Any opinions?

And to make matters better, with a 3 day weekend I won't hear back until Tuesday, a mere 96 hours late.

I would definitely take my business some where else. I have used lending tree before with good success.

You are well within your rights to be upset and demand better customer service.

I'm in the process of re-financing right now, and the company I'm dealing with has been nothing but prompt and on top of the ball. I would definitely try to use someone else if it was me. This is major deal, and some of these idiots don't take that seriously.

I'd be doing the same thing as you, and my wife would be yelling at me about it, as I go off on them on the phone..LOL

Ya know, that really made me feel better, thank you. My wife thought I was over reacting, but I don't think a 2 minute call to say a final decision has yet to be made is asking too much, and if not for the 3 day weekend I wouldn't have been as upset, but when we are approaching a 3 day weekend, the rules change.

It is more frustrating because the last mortgage broker we worked with was phenomenal, she told us to call her at home with questions. I know that is too much to expect from the average broker, I do, but this was like going from Fillet Mignon to left over McDonald's.

Are you sure they aren't working tomorrow? I've never had MLK day off.

Regardless, I'd probably give them until Tues or Weds. After that, forget it. Only reason I'd do that is stuff happens sometimes. Maybe the individual you were dealing with had an emergency or something of that nature. Of course, someone else should have been asked to work on your account, but it doesn't always work that way.

I'd get someone else. If they can't even return a call, then I wouldn't even trust them with the process of a re-fi.

That's horrible service, Mass. Take your business elsewhere, with a reminder to the lazy firm and rep that they're supposed to work for you, not vice-versa.

                  Good luck.

Customer service 101 is to return phone calls and be responsible. There are tons of mortgage brokers you can use. Go with someone else that's willing to stay true to their word.
