Re: Made It Back...
If he was at Balad, he was at LSA Anaconda or maybe FOB Orion, but most likely Anaconda. I was there for the first month of my tour and spent the other ten and a half months at Camp Liberty, Baghdad.

I was in BIAP for about a week before moving on to Ramadi, Fallujah, and other parts of Al Anbar. I also made it to Taqqadum on my way out the second time. I can't remember everywhere we went in the Euphrates River Valley during the ground war (we finally settled in Babylon).Carolina Pride!!!

Re: Made It Back...
Rain season really sucks over there. I never thought it would be as dirty as it was but it was definately dirty. I was in Qwest for the first 4 months then went up north to Fob Sykes for 4 months and then went back down and finished the last 4 back at Q west. We were a transportation unit. We mostly hauled fuel.Comment

My MOS is FA but over there we were attached to the 49th and 89th MP Brigades. We escorted officers and civilian cops all across the country. My squad escorted a captain and four civilians to IP stations all over Baghdad five to six days a week. Other squads just had a single colonel or sergeant major, but they would go all the way up to Kurdistan and back. They were gone for up to two weeks sometimes. My squad went out everyday, took care of business, and drove back.Back in the NCAA saddle after 17 years.Comment

Re: Made It Back...
I flew out of the States 6 December 2005 and left Kuwait to come home like November 28th or something. My unit is switching over to a whole new artillery system in a couple months and we have a certain amount of time where we are non-deployable until we learn it . . . allegedly. I never believe a word of it. I'll just have to wait and see. I'm in the National Guard, so they can send me back to do just about anything and say they didn't violate the non-deployable thing as long as we're not over there firing artillery. I've been activated twice since the war began and I just want to finish school.Back in the NCAA saddle after 17 years.Comment
