If that is your bi-weekly figure, make sure you invest in your companies 401K plan if they have one (8-10% of your salary if you can). If not, invest into something else that will earn you interest.
It took me 3 interviews at my current job, and with that, it took almost 2 months.

There are different circumstances for each job. Sometimes, employers know when a guy is the one they want. Also sometimes they want to drag the process out as far as they can so "the one" comes in instead of settling for someone else.

True, but I still think 1 interview and hired on the spot is rather fast.....especially if they're paying him 60K. No company wants to fire someone as there are too many legalities to jump through before doing so. I think that's why they take so much time with most interviews.

Personally, I usually have 1, 2 hour interview that is usually 1 hour of "What do you want to do in 5 years" and then 1 hour of technical, get on the blackboard and diagram stuff. The 2nd interview is often with the higher ups (ie: CTO or Sr VP). Then references are called, the paperwork is finalized and an offer is made after about a week. Then comes negotiating the offer...

That seems to be the trend in the IT field in this area. I knew I nailed the interview for my current job and was told so, but still had to go through the 2nd interview and everything else. Seemed like a waste to me, but whatever gets the job!

This also may be an up and coming (aka NEW) company and they haven't established the same HR practices that you normally see.

Just a mixture of right place, right time, and talent I guess... I was amazed my self I honestly just thought the interview would be like a "practice interview" Now I have all these job titles including manager and I already interviewed a girl for a "spokes model" position that’s right I interviewed her lol. The company has been around for 10 years but they are just getting in to the video field and I'm the guy that they wanted I guess. I found out later they had 200 other applicants from across the nation film schools and what not. I'm just trying to soak it all in still.

My boss just bought me an hp workstation worth around 5,000 and I bought with my money 8,000 dollars (got it for 900 form a connection in the bizz) worth of professional video software postproduction/editing. Seriously I'm living my other dream I had two, one pro basketball player that didn't happen(played college ball DIII and NAIA) and two work in the video/film field I've made movies since I was kid so I'm pretty excited. I recently got a script pitched at me to direct (independent low budget film but the script is already registered and well praised over at wga). That came from a writer that seen one of my videos/short films on youtube! Needless to say life couldn't be any better at the moment.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
