Anyone ever took the (CFA) Charter Financial Analyst tests?

    Anyone ever took the (CFA) Charter Financial Analyst tests?

    I will be finishing up my finance degree next fall, plan on getting my masters in finance as well.

    The average pay scale in my area,for entry level undergrad degree is around 45k for the masters its around 65k.

    So then I come across entry level salaries for people with a (CFA) which is a 3 program for certification that can be started as you go for a masters degree. The entry level salary for a CFA is 125k a year, with 5 years and over making close to 200k a year.

    Im sure the test is hard, but when the payscale goes from 65-125 i think its worth it. Anyone have any experience with any of these tests?

      This is also the path that I wish to take. I am graduating in May with a finance degree, but I am waiting to see where I get a job before deciding on an MBA.

          Hmmm...interesting...I'm also a finance major. I'm graduating in May and I'm gonna move to Charlotte. Don't have a job lined up, but with the Notre Dame network I think I'll find something.

              http://www.cfainstitute.org/ this is the organization that runs the test.

              Requirements

              Have a U.S. bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree, be in the final year of your bachelor's degree program, or have four years of qualified, professional work experience or a combination of work and college experience that totals at least four years
              Meet the professional conduct admission criteria (during the application process, you will be asked to sign statements of Professional Conduct and Candidate Responsibility)
              Be prepared to take the exams in English .

              The 2005 study once again illustrated that employers are willing to pay a premium for investment professionals who have earned the coveted Chartered Financial Analyst™ (CFA®) designation. Among those with 10 years experience or more, those with the CFA designation out-earn their peers without the charter by 24 percent (median of $248,000 vs. $200,000). The gap is even wider among all respondents, regardless of levels of experience; those with the CFA designation command compensation levels 54 percent higher than those without it ($180,000 vs. $116,850). As for the value of the CFA designation compared to an M.B.A., the study shows that for professionals with 10 years experience or more, those with the CFA designation out-earn those with only an M.B.A. by 18 percent (median of $236,510 vs. $200,000); however, the combination of the charter and an M.B.A. ultimately proves to the most lucrative educational mix (median of $255,000).

                  My friend took his. He's starting in a month at TD Bank here in montreal. He'l be making 45k a year.

                      I'm getting my Master's degree in accounting next year, with a minor in finance. Anyone know if I could sit for this exam? Will I have a realistic chance of passing much less be able to sit?

                                  He might have a series 7 cert which allows him to be a broker. Thats more of a sales job though.
