Since it's banned here I just wanted to know if anyone else goes to any other sites. I've tried looking for some on google but they're mostly inactive or racist sites.

It's allowed at Digital Sportspage, but any threads about those issues usually devolve into partisan bickering after a while, as they do at most forums.

Very strict rules on civility too, which is rather nice.

We need more active members over there. I really like talking about stuff that we can't talk about on OS and hear different opinions about things. There are too many bright OS members that have more to offer than just just input on sports and video games. It would be cool to get things going again over there. So why is it that this kind of talk is banned? Is it more that the thread will get locked if it goes into name calling and such or is it completely not allowed. I would love to talk things other than sports, creat a thread and let it be known in the first post that the thread needs no name calling, ect. Maybe a mod can ban anyone for doing anything that will disrute the thread.Comment

Let's see, it's been tried 3 or 4 times here at OS to allow political talk. It's too much of a hassle for the Mods to look after the conversation. While we do have some great posters it seems that even when a political discussion happens some immature person will chime in with something that will immediately derail the thread and kill any chance of it surviving.
The mods and admins have a hard enough time moderating the sports and entertainment here that adding political/social issues conversations raises the ire of most people. Heck, even some of the most seemingly level headed folks on here tend to say some unfortunate things when politics are thrown around.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
