I am a year away from taking the bar exam, so answering this in theoretical terms, I wouldn't think that it is your responsibility. What state are you in? -

Re: Question about traffic law....
yeah it doesn't sound like you should pay for it Maybe you should contest this in court and provide evidence that it wasn't your car and you didn't know.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Question about traffic law....
Just based off common rules in laws, if you didn't have any reason to suspect that there was a problem, you shouldn't have a problem. Traffic laws are very different if each state though. I used http://www.tixnix.com/ when I got a ticket, its free to talk to the lawyer and they can let you know what you could expect.Comment

Re: Question about traffic law....
I think you might have to pay the ticket.
A similar situation happened to me in high school. I was driving my parent's car and my father/mother forgot to get the inspection done. It was 2 weeks overdue and I got pulled over for it. I got 2 tickets (1 for inspection, 1 for emissions). I took it to court, explained the situation to the judge and he eliminated 1 ticket, but I had to pay the other.
So while I didn't have the same exact circumstances (suspended registration compared to outdated inspection/emissions), I think they'd have similar results.Comment
