I'm seriously interested in the answers here.
1). I would use them if they were around. I would rather support a local business and actually get to know the owners than support a local Gamestop/EB Games.

2). There are none that I know of.

3). Only advantage I can think of is uniformity.

4). It would matter to me because I would prefer to support a local business since prices wouldn't be any different.

I got NCAA 5 days early from the 2 hours away place, they sell everything early, even had a giant sign on the front saying "We have NCAA Football 07". Funny thing was that around the corner was a Gamestop. My more local one gets very few games in, they got 4 copies of Crackdown on Friday, all of which were gone within hours, but I saw them right when they came in so I could have had one. I got WWE Smackdown there last year almost 2 weeks early. They had The Departed on DVD 3 weeks ago. Stuff like that.

I like to use them here and there to keep them in business.
That was a hellish drive to the far away one in Fremont. You just hit a certain point and its all fields and you just want to drift asleep. But other than that one, I personally can't think of any other ones close to me, either in North Royalton or Kent.

I don't think there are ANY Mom-Pop stores in the LA area, and if there are, I have no clue where they are. Maybe I can use them for NCAA this year.

The San Fernando valley, Game Dude on the corner of Sherman Way & Laurel Canyon, I go there all the time.

Awesome collection of old school stuff.

EDIT: I think you guys outside of the L.A. area can still use them, I think they ship out as well.

Boltman, I remember calling them when I tried to track down NCAA this past year, but they didnt have any games for new systems from what I remember. The site has PS3 and 360 though, so I don't know.

Maybe I'll come to that area and pick up some Weinerschnitzel from Laurel Cyn and Victory, as that's the closest damn one to my house.

Games For Less near me has had NCAA and Madden early for 2 years now. So that's my first place to look for NCAA/Madden when they release.

I'll try and shoot you a PM when they get NCAA, I'm hoping they get it the weekend before.

You're most likely going to pay the same price both places.

Besides an occasional early release, what would make you WANT to use an independent store?
For me there is appeal in both (a) and (b).

Don't remind me!! It was worth it though, but absolute torture driving back 2 hours with it on the seat next to me.
