    The Flu

Anyone else get it this year?

I caught it in the middle of the day today and I don't think it has ever been this bad. I have probably ran to the bathroom 15 times, and that doesn't even include times where I know that I don't feel well and go on my own.

Should of got that damn flu shot.

    Re: The Flu

I pop 1000mg of Vitamin C a day because my immune system is horrible if I don't.

Haven't caught it this year, but I'm taking active measures. Hand sanitizer everywhere I go, never put my hands near my mouth, constantly washing, staying away from public places as much as possible, etc.

I'm what you can call a "germophob" due to all the crap I used to go through as far as sickness goes. I used to constantly be sick from September through April.

Once you got the flu, there's nothing to do but wait it out man. Good luck.

      Ya, it really sucks.

I'm usually good about getting sick too. I take regular vitamins everyday plus a daily dose of vitamin C. Drink a lot of water. etc.

I have now lost 12 pounds in the last 9 hrs. If I don't feel better tomorrow, I'm going to the ER.

        Re: The Flu

I got it last week (Monday) and I'm just now getting over it. And you know, I'm not a person that has to run to the bathroom whenever I'm sick. In fact, I havent thrown up since I was 4. I just think thats interesting.

The only thing I can suggest is fluids, and lots of them. All I did was drink lots of juice (mostly orange juice). Seemed to work fairly well.

It normally only takes me 1-2 days to get over it.

The only problem with drinking liquids is I seriously can not keep it down. I've tried water, orange juice, sprite, etc. And 15-20 mins later I puke up more than I put in.

I know I need to be drinking, but I feel so much more terrible five minutes after I do.

Last time I had the flu was a little over three years ago.

I threw up about 20 times in an 8 hour span...ended up going to the ER, got hooked up to an IV for 4-5 hours, went home, slept for 14 hours straight, and was nearly 100% in 2 days.

I really should try to do that tomorrow if I have time.

I have a bunch of errands to run, but I might have time to get well.

I don't understand. Whenever I've had the flu, I've never thrown up. You HAVE to have something else. Maybe it's a STOMACH flu, because that can get you throwing up every 15 minutes.

Go get it checked out, bro.

I avoided the flu this year by getting a massive head cold early in the season. Guess I lucked out. Hope you feel better.

Yes, in early February. First time I've suffered true flu -- not just a bad cold -- in at least a decade.

Many people mistake a bad cold for flu, but this was hardcore flu. Was on the couch flat for 3 1/2 days. Slept 18 out of 24 hours one of the days. Hurt everywhere.

Not fun. What made it worse was that both of my sons -- 6 and 2 -- got it to varying degrees, and so did my wife. The durations all were staggered, so there was sickness in the house for a good three weeks.

It never touched my 8-year-old daughter. We need to learn her secret! None of us ever have received flu shots, and I'm not sure if we will. This was the first year we got the flu in at least a decade.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Pat.

                      Take care,

F*ck the errands. Your health is much more important. Focus on getting well.

Maybe 2 or 3 pounds from not eating much for three days. But I slammed liquids constantly. Felt like a stretched hot water bottle after a while.

I wasn't puking or having john trots. My flu was the classic "head, chest, aches, chills" virus, not a stomach flu.

Pat hope you feel better. Only bad thing about Flu Shots are its last year's strain of the virus. If it's a new strain it won't matter if you got the shot or not. I hope in my lifetime medicine will be able to catch up with the flu bug and prevent it before it gets spread. Doubt it will happen, but I can hope though!!!!
