cramping up during cardio
Ive started back doing cardio and I keep getting a sharpe pain in my rib cage area about 8 or 9 minutes in. Ive gotten this plently of times before, but it wasnt always consistantly. Now ive gotten it ALL 3 times this weekend I tried running on a tredmill. It slowly goes away if I stop running and walk, but the second I start jogging or running again within a minute or two the shape pain creeps back in to the point where its unbearable. This has happened 3 days in a row. What's going on and how can I stop this?Tags: None -

Re: cramping up during cardio
I'd say you don't have enough fluids, you're not stretching like someone else mentioned or you're out shape.Comment

Re: cramping up during cardio
That sharp pain is coming from your diaphragm. You need to drink more water and control your breathing. Your diaphragm is cramping up because you are breathing too hard. I used to have this problem but I was running with my mom one time (who is a serious runner) and she suggested that I try to inhale through my nose and exhale trough my mouth. This helped slow down my breathing enough to where my diaphragm wasn't hurting me anymore. I personally don't breath through my nose every single time, but I do it every other time. So I breath in through my nose, exhale through my mouth, breath in through my mouth, exhale through my mouth....Comment

Re: cramping up during cardio
Hydration is the key. Stretch before a run is HIGHLY overrated. It's far more important to stretch after a run.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!
