My hat is not colorfast(found this out the hard way) is there any way to fix it? my white hat now looks pink.

    Re: How to clean hat

Buy a new one! I'm not a fan of a hat having the "aged" look so if the front of the hat ever collapses or it gets really dirty then it's time for it to be demoted to being a 'work cap'. Dry cleaning hasn't worked for me as I've had to give away a bag full of fitted caps because they obviously washed my hats.

I was afraid that would be the solution...I am hand drying it with an old towel and it seems to be working fairly decent.

But it's still pink isn't it?

the bill which was completely pink when I first checked it is now as clean and as white as when I first bought it. There is a small pink spot around the letter on the front. It's becoming less and less visible somehow as it dries though.

Can New Era baseball caps go in the washing machine without any threat to it shrinking (or stinking, for that matter)?

Blzer, do not put a NewEra hat in the wash or place under water. It would shrink if you put it in the dryer so do not do that either. Do not put NewEras into the dishwasher. Basically do not get them wet. I am assuming these are authentics or some variation (fitted is what I am getting at). Maybe you want the flimsy bill, if you want that soak away. I myself like a good crisp looking hat.

Here is what you do, go to lids/hat world and buy the cleaner use that to wash your hat. Follow the directions very closely...I misread and placed mine under the water, needless to say I went and bought a new hat. While you are at lids go ahead and buy the stain and water repellant.

Summary: Do not soak or even splash your hat with water!!!!

When my Atlanta Braves hat gets dirty/beat up, I just go and buy another one at that point.

To get NewEra's to fit better... I completely soak it in water and let the hat dry on my head. The bill isn't flimsy afterwards, and the hat conforms to my head. It's also listed as a fitting technique on their website, so don't think I'm ruining hats or doing this all on my own.

I do the same thing with my new hats. I also remove all the white and black stitching on the inside.

Did that with my Indians hat. Worked well. I just hate the point at the top of the hat. Took months to get rid of it. Nothing like a worn in hat.

Are you talking about the hard stuff? kinda feels like plastic. If so what's the best way to do this? I tried once and couldn't get it.
