Moving back to Michigan.

I left in 01 and it's been quite a ride since. I am glad to be headed back with my family. We are moving to Traverse City next week. I really can't wait. I was born and raised in Detroit and never got a chance to visit that part of Michigan. We fell in love with it in the last few months and decided it would be a great place for our son to go through his teens. My son has been moved around a lot since 9/11. He will be able to call Traverse City home until he heads of to college. He's 11.

Plus no more sports packages to see the Red Wings,Pistons and Tigers!! The Lions are another story.

I can't tell you how happy we are to be coming back. There's something about Michigan. Damn Clay,I forgot how expensive car insurance is. Mine doubled as soon as I changed our address. Small price to pay to come back home! Wings training camp is in Traverse City. Wahoo!!!!

Great blog by the way. I enjoy reading your thoughts. My 30's flew by and it keeps getting faster through my 40's. Maybe the long winters in TC will slow my pace a bit.

I love Michigan. I've been here 31 of my 34 years and, as much as I try to convince myself to leave, I can't make myself do it.

I'll be up your way a few times this summer. The in-laws spend their summers in Benzonia (about 40 minutes south of TC). We spend a lot of weekends "up north", especially since we started camping.

One more warning though... I know you're leaving BuckNUT land so you're definately improving... but TC (as with most of Northern Michigan) is the only slightly better... it's big time Sparty-ville.

LOL!! We found that out last week while looking for a home. My son Dominic was decked out in gear fresh from the M Den in Ann Arbor. He took some ribbing but gave it back as well. We own Sparty. In a football sense. We stopped on the way up and he was able to run on the field at the Big House. Throw some balls in the baseball stadium. He had a blast. They are putting new seats in the Big House and it was wide open. I loved watching him run around on the field. That field turf felt great.

LOL!!!!! I am not going to miss it. The ugly face of racisim started to show up. They hate Yankees down here. Michigan has it's problems but we have never had those type of issues there. My son deserves Michigan.

I needed to be close to a VA Hospital. Mountain Home in Johnson City was my pick. Had family there as well. Rehab was a bitch! Thinking about that,I am really glad to put this place in my rear view mirror.
