    Choosing your best man?

Just curious for those at OS who have got married, did you have any troubles choosing your best man?

I had no problems, and if all else fails just go with the length of time you knew the guy. My buddy from high school was my best man, over the folks from college...simple!

I used my Dad and then all my buddies as grooms men.

Nope. I've had the same best friend since I was in second grade. No question he would be my best man, and I was the best man in his wedding.

Trimming the list of ushers was another story!

Not for me. My little brother wasn't available at the time, so I went with my best friend. Ironically though, I wasn't available when he got married, so his little brother got the job.

I say run an auction on Ebay and the highest bidder gets to be the best man. This will give you some spending money when you go on the honeymoon.

My best man was my cousin, who has been my best friend for as long as either of us can remember. So, obviously, I didn't have any problems choosing him.

That is not a bad idea, not bad at all. I've definitely seen weirder things on eBay.

I chose my younger brother who honestly gave a great speech...and for those who have been to a lot of these, you know how rare that seems to be.

I'm honored to be able to return the favor this December.

No problems. My dad was my best man and I used a few good friends from high school and my wife's two brothers as groomsmen.

I chose the person least likely to bang my future wife, my brother.

I also used my wife's brother as groomsmen, a popular pick (and oh was he DIGGING the role , though he was only 15).

The speech thing is another important evaluating criteria...you don't pick the guy who witnessed all your drunken exploits, etc. Could be bad news if he gets a head start on all the free hooch!
