I check my mail between the time I wake up and go to class.

I'm pretty sure most don't. Especially a morning class. Are you kidding? So many kids wakeup 20 minutes before their morning class starts.

I would argue that majority of students do not.

Travels by word of mouth faster than you would think. One kid reads the email then tells twenty of his friends. I woke up with my brother screaming telling me not to go outside. That he just dropped off his girlfriend when the shots were fired and she ran back into the car. At the time we didn't know what was going on. Some of us even thought there were multiple gunmen.

I would imagine tons of security will be hired by colleges and schools across the country.

It didn't happen after Columbine, what makes you think it'd happen after this?

Hey everyone, I currently go to Virginia Tech. I am fine as is all of my friends. It is still a very surreal and sad day.

I haven't read through all 22 pages, but I did see something of people questioning what Tech could have done differently. Honestly I don't think there is much else they could have done. This is a huge campus. They did send out emails, starting at 9:28 and another at 9:54. Could these have come out sooner? Sure.

Anyway, I am still in shock over this happening at my school. Please send all your thoughts and prayers to all those involved here at Virginia Tech.

Yep, maybe 15 minutes for me... I only check the email if it looks like bad weather.

I understand that, I go to a major university as well.

But what about the students who were on campus already? Maybe they had two classes before this one?

I wake up twenty minutes before class and check my e-mail. It's something I've done even in high school, when there really was no reason to check, but yeah...the majority don't, I'll agree.

I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. I echo others thoughts that this is a tragic situation. I'm glad all the VT OSers and those I know in Blacksburg, to my knowledge, are physically okay.

My thoughts are with those in Blacksburg right now, and I'm hoping for the best (if any good can come out of a situation like this).

It still doesn't add up to me though. The guy finds his girl in bed with another guy, shoots them both....then goes and loads up on ammo, grabs his hi-cap 9mms, and heads out to shoot a bunch of people indiscriminately from classroom to classroom? I'm not really sure how one leads to the other....

If it had ended with him shooting his girl and the guy in bed, it would of been a crime of passion. right?
