Is this something I can wait out? (eye injury)

So last night while playing basketball I had one of those situations where someone is going after a loose ball out of bounds and tries to save it. He happened to toss it right off of my face, and my eye has been sore ever since. For the first 10 minutes it felt like when you get poked in the eye and you cant really keep it open. As time progressed it got to the point that I could keep it open as I continued to play. Then after on the way home it constantly felt like I had sand or something in my eye. I immediatly went to bed because it was getting really annoying. Woke up this morning and im having the same problem while sitting here at work. I searched online and it seems to be a cornea abrasion based on symptoms. They advice going to the doctor, but I wont be able to at least until tonight. Its not a bad pain or anything, but im having trouble keep my eye open. Anyone NOT gone to the doctor or think I could just be fine waiting it out?

Yo if your having problems seeing the Eye is something you don't wait around to see if it will get worse. You need to go to the Doctor now and get it checked out. There is no reason you can't leave work to go get your eyes checked it if its bothering you that much.

Well I called my doctor and set an apointment up for after work. Im not having any vision trouble, im just having a hard time keeping the eye open because it feels like there is something in it. Probably a scratch or something.

Yea well thats good then. There is a very good chance its no big deal at all and you will have no problems after a few days. But its great to go just incase something else happened and you need it checked out.

It's good that you're going to your doctor. This may seem like a stupid question but when you got home last night did you wash your eye out since you say it feels like there's something in it.

I'm sure it's nothing too serious but you never know.

I used both clear eyes (not sure if thats a bad idea?) and just water. Most of the annoyance comes when I blink, which is why I feel like I have to keep my eye shut.

If my vision was at all blury or in anyway effected id probably would have been at the emergancy room last night because I know how serious eye injuries can be. The fact that I can see perfectly fine, and I only seem to have an annoyance when I blink is why I figured id see how anyone else would have delt with a similar situation.

It is very strange that people post here for advice...especially medical advice....

...you know the usual.....I was clearing some brush in the backyard with my granfathers old machete....well I missed a particularly stubborn sapling and managed to hack off my left foot. I was able to duct tape it back to my left legs bloody stump, but it hurts a little. Do you think I should make an appointment? I pst px later!

Some of you guys are crazy!...in a very funny entertaining way. I love it!

Try using some glue, or a staple gun, that should hold it on there a little better.

Seriously, probably a scratch on your eye. Better see the Dr to be safe. Maybe he will give you a cool eye patch...........shiver me timbers
